I am no connoisseur of Ovation guitars or any other guitar for that matter. I only know what feels and sounds good to me. In highschool I played my Framus 12 string, then when Glenn Campbell came on the scene with an O. I thought, WOW! got to like that. However, too rich for my highschool budget.
So I found an Applause and loved the feel, but it wasn't an O, was it. Putting that disappointment in my minds closet I moved on with life until my 10 yr old son dusted off the Applause, handed it to me and said 'teach me'. Two weeks later he's got good sound coming out of 6 chords. A month later he's picking/playing 'Walk right in, House of the rising sun' like a pro; so he goes out and buys a new Yamaha.
Having re-newed MY interest, that nagging disappointment spurred by Mr. Campbell comes out of the closet. Thats when I found a mint CC057 Celebrity with hard case for $275 Cdn. Thats about $ 170 US. As I said I'm not a connoisseur so I didn't know Celebrity's were made in Korea. All I know is it sounds,feels,looks great and when plugged into a Fender Acousticsonic Jr. WOW!!
In Canada, all Ovation guitars are imports. I would much rather buy a USA Ovation from my friends to the south but the main thing is I now have that long wanted Ovation.
I hope I haven't offended anyone with my ignorance on these guitars or where mine was imported from. In my humble opinion, no other guitar feels as good as an Ovation; in my green hands anyway.

Location: Waterloo, IL | Welcome to the group here with your new O. I noticed your membership number is 1500. I hadn't realized that there were that many members now. Hopefully you will be able to move up the Ovation scale later on. My hope is to someday have a pair of Adamas guitars, one 6 string, one 12 string. It is good that your son is progressing well on the guitar. You seem to be helping him out a lot to improve that fast. Keep up the good work with him.

Location: High, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado | I finally was able to add the 12 string to match my 6 string Elite. I love the combo. Toughest part is trying to decide which one I want to play first.
I think it's wonderful to start them young. I push to hard though. I've been trying to get my 5 year old interested in having a guitar of his own, like a AA-13, or something similar. So far, he's not too interested. I sure wish I had started at an early age. 10 would have been a good age to start.
