As the "strict rules" of the R'nR Hall of fame have little to do with actually getting inducted I wouldn't waste my bandwidth. Having said that, it is very sad to hear about Warren. A great musician who is one of the artists, like so many that you rarely hear about, that are playing and producing wonderful music, just not for the corperate music machines.

Many folks have been told they have only months or a few years left, and proved the doctors wrong. I hope Warren lives to a ripe old.

Thank's Paul T

I signed it whether it works or not, as everybody on this board should. Let us not let the pioneers die without all the help we can give them. It doesn't matter if it works, it will still give a little recognition to our musician friends. Everybody thinks that when you become famous that life is hunkydory, when these guys are playing for us when they would like to be home with their wife and kids.

~I heard Woodrow Wilson's guns
I heard Maria crying
Late last night I heard the news
That Veracruz was dying
Veracruz was dying

I think that is twice you have given us some good poetry. If it is yours, take credit, if you are quoting, give credit.

Right on both accounts gentlemen - I should give credit (will do so in the future!) and Paul T. is right it's from Warren Zevon's song Veracruz on the Excitable Boy LP.

It is still some major poetry, and music. I'm happy to know where it came from.

....Roland searched the continent for the man who done him in. He found him in Mombasa in a bar room, drinkin' gin. Roland aimed his Thompson Gun....he didn't say a word...and he blew VanOwen's body from there to Johannesburg....Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner....in Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine & Berkley - Patty Hearst, heard the burst of Roland's Thompson Gun & BOUGHT IT!

Thank you, Paul, for this post. Warren's art is dear to me. He is also....an Ovation Fan.

I signed it. He deserves it. So do alot of others who will never get in. Being a Clevelander, I constantly hear about the HOF, big White Elephant that it is. Went once. Not worth a second visit. It's very political. Under the control of Jann Wenner, from Rolling Stone. Some major artists have said, if Wenner doesn't want you in, you're not in. I think the whole "inductee" thing is bullshit! Example, McCartney was inducted 3 times. Once with the Beatles, once with Wings, once as a solo artist. Dumb. I think it would have been better to just make it a place to honor all of Rock-n-Roll., not just a select few. Many artists who had a lot of hits, or who have cult followings, are ignored. Then again, if seeing one of Diana Ross' dresses is your thing, they've got one. Mike

Some of the so called temples turn out to be hype, this board is full of musicians that know what is right. I'll take our opinions over Jann Wenner's who only wrote (a suspicious activity) and those who have played.
