After NAMM there was some eager discussion about the high-end Q. Haven't heard anything in a while, so I have been wondering if a progress update is available.

That was disappointing as you will find if you try it. "Coming soon"? It seems some want to know now, why advertise if you have nothing to sell or say? This looks like a poorly concieved hype for what might be a good guitar. Damn, damn, damn, I was looking for a 12 string Q. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | At the OFC tour in March there were (I think) three Adamas Q prototypes laying out for us to try. The look, fit and finish was top notch. It was hard to say for sure how they sounded in such a short time and in such a room (although the room was not bad at all). I would say my initial impression was rather neutral. It certainly was NOT the best sounding guitar in the room by a long shot in my opinion. The new slothead Adamas, as well as the old model slothead and some of the early wood top Balladeers were quite a bit more impressive to me. Dave |

Location: NJ | On the bus trip from the Tour to the Jam, I sat across the aisle from Rick Hall and asked him about the Q.
He said that the Q was still being used as an R&D tool to experiment with different techniques (so I would assume that thusfar, no two guitars are exactly alike). If I remember correctly there are something like 7 or 8 functioning incarnations, and Rick alluded to those guitars possibly being put on the market.
Start saving those pennies, kiddies! |
