Location: Houston, TX | I have a job, a wonderful wife, and two challenging kids. Pretty basic scenario. I work in the yard, I make repairs to the house as needed, I let the kids squirt me with the water hose. I manage to carve out a few hours a week to make noise, and it never seems like enough.
Here's my point: I think we are all pretty much in the same boat, as far as having our time committed to certain things. The variables may change, but the equation holds true.
The remarkable thing to me is that Miles and Al have developed this site in such an organized, coherent way. I can only speculate about the time, effort, and expertise required to make this site be what it has become. 1521 members in 18 months. Relevant, intelligent discussions about music and instruments. This is a cool place to visit each day.
I have seen other sites and other bulletin boards, but none of them are laid out like this one, with easy access to comprehensive content.
So, gentlemen, tonight I raise my virtual glass and toast to you.

Location: Warsaw, Indiana | Part of my job involves sitting in front of my computer for about four hours a day, so when I get home the last thing I want to do is check e-mail or surf the web. However, what I treat myself to EVERYDAY is the Ovation Fan Club site. I agree it is a great site and just fun to peruse, but it is costly, I just bought a Glen Campbell 12 from Dave Witko that was on the Sale board. Oh well now I've doubled my Ovation collection ( I now have 2)! |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I can easily say that this site is a GODSEND for me at work! I work in a small office with 2 other people (who are in other rooms) and our building is a bomb shelter, so the walls are 4 ft thick and there are no windows. The only contact with other people I have for 8 hours is pretty much my 2 bosses, the occassional phone call, and the web! Being a "people" person, this isolation in front of a computer for 8 hours can drive a guy insane.
I love visiting this site between my projects...about 5-6 times a day. Kinda gets me through and provides a nice few minute break! Aside from all the great info, there are often a lot of laughs.
This site was a brilliant idea and I love it, and am very thankful for the time and energy put into it by Al and Miles, and everyone else too!
You guys rock, and get me through the day!
I'm heading to New Orleans for a wedding (not mine) and vacation early tomorrow, so I'll catch you guys in a week or so.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Thanks for the kind words. We are pretty proud of what has happened here. For me, although I am proud of the site as far as the "easy access" and all that... I just get a kick out of the community it has created. For those that visit other sites, it's usually only the small ones that have this kind of community where we are somewhat focused, yet personality and personal issues come up as well. Barbs get tossed, (poor Barb) but they are tossed with a bit of class in most cases... ok, maybe the class is "low class" but at least it's considered.
There are plenty of large sites that for someone who is looking for info on the topic, they are really going to have to search deep, and still may not find anything. Here we have the fun, but thanks to those in the community like Bill, Paul, Paul, Paul, Sam or Paul there is a wonder on info at the search button. I had been working on an FAQ, but frankly I think I'm just going to add intructions on how to use the search to the fullest. Just search on "neck adjustment" and not only find out about that, but also it's relationships to strings and pickups, neck angle, top, etc... That's more than any FAQ can provide and still answer the original question.
Anyway... sorry for the short rant. But again.. Thanks so much to everyone for making this site what it is.

As I am sure Miles will testify my life is total chaos. I guess I sort of live for that.
I run my own business MYSELF, and that task is monumental, My business website is NEVER up to date and I always seem to be a couple of days behind in shipping out a guitar or some other piece of equipment.
when my day gig and I mutually decided it was best that we parted ways, I thought I would have tons more time on my hands to cover everything that needs to be accomplished, well that was a joke also.
Aside from keeping this site alive, I also write for Guitar Digest magazine (www.guitardigest.com) and go to a bunch of guitars shows, ran one myself until the venue closed on me, and of course take care of my lovely wife and my mom who seems to need to go to doctors more and more these days.
Miles will also tell you that I have been going through hell trying to get some contractors to work on my house and build an addition with a garage and studio. Since it finally started raining, I have been starting on ripping off the old siding on my house to the studs and getting it ready for new siding. Of course I have to do all this myself since no contractors will even return my calls. I would have a lot more time if some contractor and I could come to an agreement.
Anyway thanks for the kind words. I am glad everyone likes this site, I try real hard to keep it civil, even if you don't like me at times that is OK. In fact I used to tell the kids in school that I taught you don't have to like me you just need to learn. so enjoy. |

I really appreciate all the time given here to keep things running smoothly.

After a hard day at work I come home and log on to the OFC to "relax" but I never think about what someone else (Miles & Al) has to do so that I can ENJOY this site!
