| Pretty cool if that's a true provenance.
Think an acoustic-only UTE would sound different from an A/E? |

IMHO this is a historical GC piece that will not soon be forgotten. Please note his biggest fan found the auction. |

I at least dust off a guitar when I list it. He obviously Loves this Guitar!
He tells you that it is all-acoustic, then tells you how he installed a transducer for Ziggy...
But he does not show the jack.
The fact that he wrote 'black 6 string guitar' on the case doesn't give me alot of faith either.
How many Utes do you have?
Even though he shows that filthy fretboard, he doesn't show you the frets where the wear is...
Except that he is trying to get you with the dubious provenance... (Ziggy and Glen touched it)
it's a $1000 guitar, tops. And that's cuz it's a Ute and could be revitalized. |

I'd buy it except I'm not a Ute fan, but there are a lot of them here.
About 7 years ago, I bought a Country Artist cutaway that was built in 1983, on the 'bay. Looked good in the pics. It was only about 60 miles north of me so I went to pick it up. Looked terrible! Dirty, only a couple of worn strings on it, just miserable. I got it home, cleaned it up, did a set up, restrung it, and it was beautiful! Great guitar. I sold it when I got my 1773LX Custom, but you can see pics of it from European gatherings. It's always in the front row and has the most wonderful piece of wood on the top..... |

I've got one of the other acoustic only U681s and they are indeed very special. The protos hjave a different top than the production versions.

| The top on Paul's CA was/is as stunning a piece of wood as I've ever seen. My CA is definitely turning a more golden colour but it's got a long way to go to catch up.
I think it's the Peruvian Red he smokes in his music room that give his guitars that special colour...... |

It's good to see the pictures of the guitar. It looked so bad when I picked it up but looked so good when I cleaned it up. While I had it, it begged for gold tuners and they suit it well.
It's one of those guitars that I wish I still had, but my 1773LX Custom suits me so well.
Schro', have you ever seen the guitar in person and played it? Not a great acoustic sound (you don't expect it from an old Country Artist), but a good sound. And an absolute joy to play. A delight for your visual and tactile senses!
I'm hoping it gets played a lot. I know it went to a good home...... |
