Location: Scotland | A '78 Adamas would be signed by Mr Kaman Senior. I have one a wide-neck version the same colour & few digits away from the serial number on this one. Great guitar, worth having unless Al beats you to it. |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | What's with the discoloration around the epaulets, particularily the upper one? I asked the seller about this via email and he got a bit antsy...and never did give a straight answer.
Anyone elses Adamas do this?

| Wayne, you have good eyes !!! The pics in the ad is very dark (pics in seller's other ads are much brighter). Is he trying to hide something? I use photo editing software to lighten up the pics & can see the blemishes.
I asked him 4-5 times about the discoloration for several days. He never replied. |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | By-and-large, a pretty poor job of refinishing around the epaulets. Whatever the damage repair was, is speculative. |

Location: Scotland | It may be a botched refinish, but so what? Its a minor cosmetic fault on a 25 year-old guitar and It's cheap enough. I've seen a few early Adamas where the finish has worn through or flaked away showing black carbon-fibre and it's nothing to be concerned about. |

Location: Zion, Illinois | When I looked last night with very little time to go, it was still at $700+. It ended up going for over $2000. I hope it is a sign that guitars are going up in price. I saw the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I guy was selling a beautiful Paragon guitar, serial # 101 starting at $899. It ended up going for $1175. Same seller then put serial # 100 up for $899. He offered it to me for $1400. It ended up going for $1850.
Who knows?

I've seen several with the peeling finish around the epaulets. I guess that the finish just don't stick that good or the wood from the epls pulls it up. I can't remember if at this time we were gluing on the epls and then giving the whole top an overspray. I know later we didn't, we finished the epls first and glued tham on completed. With a coat of finish over everything any change in temp or humidity could cause a slight movement. Obviously the adhesion of the painbt to the grafit is the weakest link.
Then again it is just cosmetic. play with your eyes closed. |
