Question - is there any reason an Adamas I and an Adamas II of the same vintage and style (i.e. deep bowl non cutaway) should sound any different unplugged? Dave

The 1 had the braces weighed and matched and each pair had to be with in a certain range. Then 2 used the braces as they came off the cutting machine. The shape and size of the bridge was sligfhtly different too.

All that said, it is splitting hairs, sometimes under a microscope.

Yep, it's never predictable, even with synthetic materials. Among the guitars in Michael Wong's (PlayAdamas) collection is an Adamas 2. It's one of the best guitars I've ever heard. We had it side by side with several of his Adamas 1's and a bunch of very tasty collectors editions. They were all great sounding guitars, but it was that Adamas 2 we went back to every time.
