I just returned from a vacation in Nashville last week. During my trip through the Country Music Hall of Hame, I found that they have one of Glen Campbell's 6-string Ovations on display in a case there.
They do not allow pictures to be taken in the museum, so unfortunately I could not take one to post here. The guitar does not have any label in the sound hole, says "Custom" on the headstock, and has a smooth back. Couldn't see any other identifying marks.
Just wanted you all to know that Ovation is represented along with the large number of Martins and Gibsons in there. | |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | I was there in '87 but somehow, managed to miss seeing that guitar.
The guitar does not have any label in the sound hole
On my GC Classical from 1970, the square label is not in the usual place, but is on the upper (bass) inside area of the bowl. I have no idea why or if that is the case with the CMHH guitar, but it's a possibility.

It is quite possible that the label is where you stated. The guitar is in a glass case, with dim lighting, so it would not be easy to verify that. The guitar is on a normal type guitar stand, headstock up.
In case you don't know, the Museum moved to a brand new building in 1999, and I believe they have expanded the displays. They even had the "flag" Takamine that Toby Keith used for the 2003 CMA awards. | |
