Location: Tennessee | All of the above. The nylon strings seem to be Applause, as are a number of the other models. The Trekker is similar to the Celebrity Deluxe, carry the Ovation branding, and are pretty decent given what they are. I've got two around the house for the kids ... one is an Applause Model AA-13 (or close) and it's less than steller but indestructible, and OK for the money. Super shallow body, round hole, cheap electronics. The other is a CS212, and it is really pretty decent. OP24+ electronics, mid depth bowl, standard Celebrity Deluxe treatments (diamond and dots fretboard inlays, epaulets, etc). Kinda fun to play once in a while. Much better sound and contruction than the Baby Taylor I saw in a local store ... and about the same money. I played the Applause nylon string ... it didn't do much for me. As with anything, you get what you pay for. Both of the ones I have are still around, still get played, and that says a lot for the indestructible nature of these in the hands of young boys. Maybe girls take better care of their toys. |
