There are some posts on it...check search. I got mine through Al last month, Paul Hebert gets his middle of next week.
It is a wonderful guitar...and I have six other Custom Legends (6 & 12-strings) to compare it with.
Stand by, you'll have a big smile when you get it. |

Location: SoCal | It's probably been mentioned in the past, but is the truss rod cover purely ornamental? The Custom CL has the Kaman bar, right? |

Location: Scotland | Paul M, the 30th CL has the new double-action neck-rod which adjusts at the peg-head. It sounds like it's the same rod as the LX guitars. There's wat tooo many Pauls around here. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Now I'M confused. I thought the CL30 had a K-bar, non-scalloped bracing and standard design bowl. If it's really got all the LX goodies then this makes it even MORE desirable. Paul M. are you reading this ????

Location: SoCal | Temp's right on the neck bracing. I checked the Ovation webpage (I gotta get a life). But it has the original A bracing, and I suspect the old bowl.
From the pic on the webpage, the Al D. model looks like it also has the newer neck bracing. Which means that all I'm pushing Ovation for now is the lighter bowl in a deep bowl configuration.
Hello Ovation, anybody home? |

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Paul B, I too had a 30th anniversary Custom Legend, well for about two days. I just could not get use to the guitar. I found the neck much bigger than my 1619 Custom Legend. I also found the action higher than I like, and I could not lower it. The more I played the 30th anniversary Custom Legend, the more I liked my 1619 Custom Legend. Tony Calman has it now, and he has three of them. The Legend LX I just got plays like a dream, and I wish the 30th anniversary Custom Legend would have played half as well as the Legend LX. |

Using a combination of its original features along with some new technology...“A” brace, AAA grade Bearclaw Spruce, OP PRO, dual acting truss rod. I may be wrong as I don't worry about the specifics (plays and looks great then I play it) but has the basic deep bowl with different top, upgraded pre-amp, and different truss rod - but not the LX neck attachment and lighter bowl. However, a great combination. Kept the tradition of the CL but, at the same time, some nice improvements.
Will be interesting to see how much of the LX changes are actually in the deMiola for this year. |

Location: SoCal | Okay, the 2nd came in today, 3rd to follow from Paul B.
Interesting as the one I ordered on 1/6 (before NAMM,) serno 579515, has almost no bear claw definition (marks like made by a bear's claw); the one that came in today (through Paul H.) that I ordered 2/9, serno 578965, has a lot of the bear claw definition. Both gorgeous and will only get better in time. Both great to play.
As you read the following, this is not a complaint - Interesting that the one ordered on 2/9 (approx 30 days later than the first)has a serno 550 less - sure, lots of LX's and others sold. However, they did not come from dealer's stock as Al ordered them as I requested them.
Appears one answer is that the serno's are not sequential as the guitar is completed. Possibly, each line is assigned a block of numbers to use. In prior years, a limited run like a Collectors was sequentially numbered such as 25 of 770. For the 30th Anniv, the individual guitar is not numbered (i.e., 25 of 300.) Probably doesn't matter as my understanding is that they are very close or at the magic 300 and are shutting down the line at 300. |

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Tony, I knew you would like the bearclaw patterns on the 30th Custom Legend. Great looking guitar, just doesn't hold a candle to the LX in my opinion. Oh well, it's just an opinion. :) |
