Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | The Search Is OVER!!!
As many of you know, I have been searching, dreaming, scheming, wishing, praying, lookin, seekin, whinning, squeakin, foolin, droolin, after a USA Ovation 12. I am EXCITED and ELATED, to let it be related, that I now hold one in my hands!!!!
tr(better known as my bestest friend that lives in S.C.... O.K., the ONLY friend I have in S.C....O.K., perhaps one of the only friends I have anywhere!... I think were friends?!))boy, made me an absolutely sweet deal on his 1981 1615 PACEMAKER!!!
I received the guitar yesterday, and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! It is everything I expected a USA DEEPBOWL 12 would sound like, and the classic Ovation style is nothing short of stunning. It is like the long lost sister of my 1981 Legend, as their soundboards aged beautifully, and very simular in deep rich tone.
Good News:
The moment I picked a chord on the Pacemaker, I felt one with the guitar, and absolutely loved it's tone. Plays like a dream...and hey MEDIUM strings on a Norse(need a neck reset)man 12 string?! that's a first, and what a blessing!
Better News:
I plugged it in ... crisp, even, balanced, rich. I noted someone posted a few days ago that Pacemakers don't have much bass response... bass is very important to me, and I absolutely LOVE the bass on this particular guitar.
I can't express enough what an absolute joy it was (and will continue to be) to get to know "trboy", and working out the transaction. Mike's a class act. I have met so many great people on this board...well, add one more to that growing list!!!
If you want to see what this Pacemaker looks like, look in trboys gallery... you can LOOK, but you'll have to pry this sucker "...out of my dead cold hands" as Charleton Heston would say! I was up until 4:00 a.m. this morning goofing around with this guitar.
Life is good!!! Thanks to all of you that have been keeping an eye out for a good 12 for "ol Norseman. The search is over, and God willing, I will be playing this 12 (and loving it) unto the Lord for many many many years to come!!!
Thus, the smiley faces!
Norse(and thanks again trboy, the guitar is everything and more than I expected... now I feel guilty, rooting for the Patriots in the Superbowl... I'll have to get me a Carolina Panthers hat for sure !!!)man1 |

CONGRATS, Norsey!!!!
Much Luck and Happiness with it.
You deserve it!!!
But I gotta admit . . .
. . . as HAPPY as I am for Norse, it's kinda "anti-climactic".
All of that "sexual tension" is now gone. :(
It's kinda like when Bruce Willis FINALLY "schtupped" Cybil Sheppard on "Moonlighting". It just wasn't the same after that.
Oh well, . . . I guess I can always just join the Taylor Board and listen to all of the endless quests for a "brilliant-sounding" Taylor . . . . like THAT'll ever happen!!!
Congrats again, Norse!!

Of course we never be able to get a good look at the 12 string because the camera will have to be so far away in order to catch all of your smile! |

Location: Upper Left USA | That's a good one. You need to let the other know. The only caveat is you have say "Arrh" and "Matey" every couple of lines.
When your done we'll let them know what the "Head" on a ship is and why it's time to go when even the rats leave the ship. |

Location: NJ | Okay, here goes . . .
Long ago, when large wooden ships carried cannons, the only thing worse than a "loose cannon" were loose cannon balls rolling around the ship wreaking havoc. To alleviate this, the "monkey" was created. The monkey was an iron plate with big, deep "dimples" in it in a triangular pattern. The cannon balls would be configured in a triangle on the bottom, a smaller triangle stacked on top of the first, and so on, until there was just one ball on top of the heap. As the cannon balls were used, the "monkey" held the rest in place.
The problem was that with the constant exposure to the sea air, the iron balls would rust to the iron monkey. To fix that, the monkeys were then fabricated of brass. No more rust problem!
However a new problem did occasionally arise. If and when ship would venture into the Artic regions (or the weather got icredibly cold) the metal would naturally contract. Brass has tendency of contracting at a much higher rate than iron. Brass gets cold, brass contracts, cannon balls roll free.
Hence the phrase:
". . Cold enough to Freeze the Balls Off a Brass Monkey . . ."
Sorry, about the total lack of "aaargghhs" and "matey" there Woody, but since that last "incident", they don't let me drink rum in the office anymore . . . . bastards! |

Where does the analogy about the Well Digger's ass fit in?

As a 12 string dreamer, congrats with your treasure. Nothing like a thing that gives great pleasure and gaurantees a lifetime of revelation. Those long winters will now be too short and you will fail to notice that it is snowing and freezing outside, or that you have a wife and children and a job as you cycle from the dinner table to the 12 string playing area with brief trips to the bedroom for fitful sleep as you dream of another song that would REALLY sound good on the ole 12 string and leap out of bed to try it out. Life with a 12 string will become EXTREMELEY simplified. I'm not one to show envy, ENJOY ENJOY.
