I am on a quest for super bright strings for my 1537. I have been using Martin SPs, which I like however, the 1537 is a new aquisition and thought I would ask you kids out there what strings you might use to maximize a bright tone on this guitar.

I like bright strings. I use Martin Marquis Extra Lights.

Slipkid,
Thanks for the reply. Have you played Martin SPs? I played Martin Marquis on My Guild Maple "Jumbo" Acoustic and found the SPs to have a brighter tone.

Jeff, if you want bright tone, I'd go for the Martin SP 80/20s in .010". They sure were nice and bright on my CC01.

I looks like it's time to try something new...I'll try the SPs next time.

Slipkid,
The Martin SPs are great strings. I moved to the SP from The Marquis and never looked back. Strings are such a personal choice, I don't profess to know anything more than that which I have actually tried.

Roger,
You confirm my own preference for Martin SPs.

I like D'Addario Phosphor Bronze, also. I have them on both of my 12-strings. I have .010" Martin SP Phosphor Bronze on the Applause. Either are good. I had the .010 Martin SP 80/20s on the CC01 for the first set after I bought it(got them free with it) and they are the best set that has been on it. Right now it has .011" D'Addarios.
