Location: Florida | I just bought a "Purple" Ovation UKII. I have a letter from dated August 2001 from AirKaman of Jacksonville that says this particular guitar and another were part of a 24-piece collection owned (supposably) by Charles Kaman. The hand-written letter reads:
"as Production of the UK2 Closed down I set aside two dozen guitars. these two UKII's are from thos 24 guitars that have been part of my collection for all these years."
It is signed but I can only make out a "C" and maybe a "K". The serial number of on this guitar is: E 19209. I took the aft pickup out to see if the color was original. The inside was the same color. If it isn’t the original color someone took the guitar completely apart and re-finished the guitar with the same kind of poly-acrilic coating Ovation used! Behind the covers for the volume and tone knobs and the upper switch it has the same aluminum foil as I have seen on other UKIIs. The guitar as far as I can tell it is made out of the same special (I forget what they called it) material as other UKIIs
Another weird thing about this guitar is that all the hardware is chrome, and instead of the large pearl inlays it has small pearl circles like my 2001 1861 Balladeer. The nut is also not brass like I have seen on other UKIIs it is made out of plastic or at least the same kind of material similar to the material used on my 1861.
I plan on calling Ovation and getting the no s*** answer on this one. The guitar looks like it is about 2 months old. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. I can send pics to anyone who doesn’t believe me or is just interested. |

Hey guys I really don't want this to be a boys club only, or adults only site etc. I want it to be fairly open to anyone of all age groups etc.
I can have the foulest mouth of anyone but try to keep the comments on the board clean so that if your son or daughter wanted to look at the board you would not be ashamed of what they see.
I am not against profanity but profanity for profanity sake is just dumb. |

I don't know if I'd call it "purple" as (according to the digital pics) it looks more like a Sapphire Blue. Nice Color. What colors were they available in? |

Available Colors:
Black
White Pearl
Charcoal
UK Nutmeg
The color is puple without a doubt. I think the color got distorted by my digi cam. |

Location: San Bernardino, California | They also had a plain brown one a few months ago that they advertised as belonging to Bill Kaman. Being as they're not too far from CWK2, maybe he's the source. |

Location: Florida | I had the opportunity to play both but after researching the two found that the purple one was more rare and matched my 1861 in Cadillac green. Call me crazy but the guitar spoke to me. |

Just go to the Member Access area and click on Gallery. At the top is a "utitity" button that will step you through uploading. You can copy the link when you upload your picture, or later when viewing the picture by using the "right click/properties" method.
Once the picture is uploaded and you have the link, just create your post and choose the URL or IMAGE button that will prompt you for the link you copied.
If of course the pictures is already online someplace, you can just link to it.
FYI,
It's usually better to link to a picture (in the gallery or otherwise) rather than post it in the thread anyway as people with dailups really get cranky when downloading pictures in threads.
Hope this helps. |

Or at least keep the file down to a reasonable size, say, 150k or less.

Location: Tennessee | Interesting ... looks like a stock UKII body and electronics in an unusual color, with the same neck and bridge that's on my solid body Viper (s/n in the same neighborhood). Emptying out the parts bin at the end of the solid body run? |

Location: Florida | I'm extremely excited about this guitar. I get a tingle every time I look at it. I have researched the previous posts on ukII and cwk2 mentions the purple ovation in a couple of posts. I think I have it but I want to hear it from the man himself (I just figured out that cwk2 stands for Charles William Kaman II) Please let me know. :D |

Location: 6 String Ranch | that's the one, ya'll. If ya'll read the other posts ya'll'll know it was made at the end of the production run and had dots and chrome hardware. There was a DS brown metallic one and a couple of other colors too. It's a nice gitter, enjoy it ya'll.
(Cliff, how was that? 4 times in one answer and a double contraction too!) |

Location: Florida | Thanks cwk2. I will definitely enjoy it. I do have a few questions about it.
Why purple?
Is it a viper neck on a UKII body?
Was it the only purple UKII ever made?
When was it made?
Is there a story behind it, like who made it and what was their goal and/or impression of it?
Did you get to play it and what did you think of it?
Did you write the letter that came with it?
Any interesting facts about the guitar?
I really love the guitar. I plan on keeping it indefinitely and passing it on to my kids.
Thanks again! |

Location: 6 String Ranch | why purple? why not. we also did green metallic, dog shit brown metallic and a bunch of others.
Viper neck? Maybe, I don't remember, measure the scale. We made a red metallic with a maple neck that was nice.
pretty sure that's the only purple
made at the end of the production run, around 81
story? trying out different ideas for a lower priced one (dots and chrome and paint grade necks)
did I play it, yes
did I write the letter, yes
anything else, yes, go enjoy it and play the hell out of it. |
