I was asked to assist in finding a tech (slightly) solution to scoring and arranging music.

I know there are plenty of software tools out to accomplish this, but I am only familiar with what Cakewalk Sonar offers, so I thought I would get input from others.

The scenario is that a music director is writing and arranging the scores by hand, and writing the lyrics on them etc...

I envision, just hook up a midi-keyboard to computer and play the tunes/part into xx software. Adjust the notes afterward on the screen. Type in the lyrics. Print.

That's essentially how Sonar works, but that package is a bit overkill. I recall there being specific software available for scoring music, in this or similar manner.

Anyone used any? Recommendations from someone who uses something they like? etc etc.

Thanks in advance.

I've heard a lotta good things about Sibelius, as well . . .

I've never used it, but evidently it works seemlessly with my FreeHand digital tablet(compose/edit in Sibelius, "print" to the tablet . .)

. . but, like I said, I never used it.
