Location: Central Oregon | Some of you may remember that a month or two ago I said if Al would send me a DVD copy of the episode of Made in America featuring the Ovation factory, I would burn three copies & send them on.
At the time I was *sure* this new Dell I bought had a DVD burner in it. I tried to order it with one but it turns out it doesn't have one. It will only burn CD's. (Which pisses me off no end!)
Since I promised to burn copies I finally ordered a DVD burner from Dell last week ($200!).
Yesterday they sent me an email saying it was back ordered & it would be weeks before there was any chance at all they could send me one.
Sooo, I tried to copy the DVD to video tape but I can't seem to do that either.
Al suggested that I post my predicament here & see if someone else on here can actually burn DVD's.
The show is worth watching (especially if you aren't going to be able to make the tour) & if someone has the capability to burn DVD's please let me know & I will send it to you along with the list of three people that I was supposed to send copies to. I would like a copy back for myself as well & will be happy to send whatever payment is required for 4 copies to be made.
I have cancelled my order for the DVD burner from *&^%$#@ Dell.
I apologize for my error & I never meant to get the DVD under false pretenses.
If someone can help me out here I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Nils the Unintentional Flake :/ |

Location: Florida | You can burn videoCD (not DVD format) on a CD burner, and those play on DVD players - limit about 45 minutes or so. |

Excellent, thank you! I will send the package with the disc as soon as I receive your mailing info. Don't forget to let me know how much I will owe you & I'll send that too. I've been trying to resolve this mess for over a week!
Thanks!
Nils
Charlie- I tried one of those video CD things once. It worked, but it required some screwing around to play & would only work on a computer. Thanks for the suggestion though :) |

I PM'd DVD with my address. I have a Pirate er... Amatuer Backup Copy Specialist... that works for me and I could make a dozen or so for distribution. Those of us in the Top Left Corner need to help each other out.
Any bites on a local OFC get together? I've only heard from those that have responded in the posts. |

No bites as yet on a NW Ovation get-together, I'm asking around...

Location: Central Massachusetts | Thanks, MWoody, I have similar capabilities. But I'll ship you the first copy off the presses and we can divide the workload if there's lots of demand.
re: a NW gathering, maybe we should shoot for something in late September, i.e. 6 months after the factory tour. A west-coast/NW all-OFC-invited type o' deal. September is a great time to visit the NW. Unfortunately, we don't have something like the factory tour to "anchor" the event, but maybe with some brainstorming, we could find something else to draw a crowd. And maybe by then I'll know enough chords to be able to play along at a jam session! :)
I'm still happy to host an ofans-nw mailing list if there's interest. Just let me know what to call it. |

I would love it if it could be called Ovation Fan Club Northwest and Guitar Giveaway Sponsored by "XXXX".
We'll see. |

Columbia River breweries & wineries, windsurfing, fishing, no rain (likely). Or, Pendleton Round-up time?. Oh God, the Calgary Stampede- that would be a real hoot! I could bring back some cheap drugs for my aging bones, anyway. |

I've got some old friends that settled out there that I haven't seen in twenty-something years. Been looking for an excuse to make my way out there and visit.
My one friend out there's a bit of a "whack-job".
A machinist by trade. One of his hobby "projects" was to build a CANNON. The barrel came from a gun off of an old battleship. He "test-fired" it one July 4th and almost accidentally sunk a sailboat on the Columbia. |

Hood River is 62 miles east of Portland, Portland on south side of Columbia River, Vancouver on north side of river...so a little over an hour away. Too bad they tore down the Blitz Brewery in Portland (yes, Blitz beer.) Had some great parties there when I lived up there and had the 6th Engineer Support Battalion (Marines) - heck, if they put up with my Marines, they could handle the OFC. Hood River - beautiful area up Columbia George with Mt. Hood in background. |

And Cliff, as for whack jobs, one of my agency's mental health clinics is just across the river.
BTW, I suggested to John B. at the MotherShip that he slip some Risperdal in the coffee urn during the tour. You now have "informed consent"! |
