Location: Converse, Texas | Have any of you out there ever been to the Dallas Guitar Show before? This year's looks like it will be excellent. My wife and I will be attending, and we hope to be able to catch Paul's band, too.
Check out Dallas Guitar SHow and Musicfest 2004
HOPEFULLY Ovation will have their booth set up and display the LXs. |

Cleveland is the home of the Hall of Fame. Big difference. Of course, Joe Walsh is from Cleveland.
(sorry about the off-topic....i'll be good now)

Location: NJ | I was under the impression that the whole "Home of Rock & Roll" was attributed to Cleveland DJ Alan Freed's playing of Bill Haley & Comets' "Rock Around The Clock" and subsequent R&R shows.
btw: Walsh lived in Cleveland after Kent State. He grew up in Montclair, NJ (born in Witchita). |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Brad....we HAVE one....April 24 and 25, Ford Performing Arts Center, Dearborn(I can tell you how to get there when I see you in a couple of weeks). Unfortunately, it wasn't a very good one in November when I went.....all the Ovations were cracked or crummy....

Now Roger.....do you *really* need yet
a-n-o-t-h-e-r guitar?
Mellisa is gonna be jealous!
.
Detroit is the home of rock & roll because Bob Seger says so!
I know where the Ford Center is. I used to go to Trek conventions right by there. But I *never* wore a costume!

My darling wife is allowing me to have six, which I now have....one of my electrics has to disappear if another O appears. Details tomorrow one way or another.....but think DEEP.....and think DETROIT.....
Melissa is already jealous!!!! Glen gets played more.....and actually the 1777 gets played more than anything else lately.....
I shouldn't be so hard on the November show...there was a vendor there from Cincy that had a fantastic selection of videos and books. Even a copy of Walter Carter's Ovation book signed by cwk2.
Detroit is ONE of the homes of Rock and Roll. Memphis is another. But Cleveland???? NAAAHHHHH. Once you get past Joe Walsh/James Gang, Eric Carmen/Raspberries and the Outsiders, who else???
Somehow, I'm sure I'll get that answer..... :)

Location: Converse, Texas | George is correct. Ovation was not there. What was also intersting is that there were about a dozen Ovation guitars there total, or maybe a little over. There was an Elite Standard LX and a shallow body Legend LX. One or two used models, a 30th Anniversary and several Legend shallow bodies. Now ... that could mean that people have Ovations and don't want to get rid of them (on the used side). On the new side, dealers aren't interested in them. |

Location: SoCal | Craig makes an interesting point about people not getting rid of Ovations. I always watch (to my wife's chagrin) Ovations on ebay. But if you look at Martin and Taylor on ebay, there are tons of them for sale. I tend to think that more people hold on to their Ovations. |

Paul M., I'd like to think that Ovation owner loyalty is greater, but I suspicion that the lower resale of Ovations makes it less attractive to try to move them on eBay.
If I had a D-28, and decided I wanted something else, I'd have more confidence that I could get decent money out of it than I would be even with an Adamas CVT. And they are very close in price new.
