Can anyone tell me anything about the electrics on this guitar?

I emailed the seller & he told me it has no controls whatsoever on the guitar, you plug it in & run everything from the amp. I don't think I want to bid on it, I'm just curious. I don't remember ever hearing about a setup like this on an Ovation.

I wonder if the pickup was added by the owner? The bridge doesn't look like an electic/acoustic Ovation bridge.

A past owner put in an aftermarket pickup. The model 1115 denotes an acoustic only 12 string. There's no reason not to buy it if it's a good guitar and the electronics work. It's just not Ovation electronics. No big deal. My old Legend, model 1117 has an under saddle L.R. Baggs pickup.

Thanks guys. That explains it. It looks like it's going to go for more money than I want to spend.

Nils, a major concern with that guitar is the saddle height. It looks to be as low as it will go. Apart from the tonal implications of a shallow break-angle, if the action is too high for you, you're pretty much screwed. If you intend to bid on this ask the seller for a close up of the bridge & get him to measure the action at the 12th.

Nils, I'm not sure if you're stuck on a slothead with 12 frets clear of the body, but I have a 1755 Custom Balladeer that I bought about a year ago on eBay for $425. The guitar is mint-no cracks or scratches of any kind. What really makes it special is the equalizer. I use a Crate CA125D and the sound is pure magic. These 12 string models pop up on eBay fairly regularly and most that I have seen are in excellent condition. Perhaps for pure acoustic tone the 1115 is better, but if you're going to plug it in go with the 1755 (and save some $$ too).

If I get it for that I will be happy. Either that or I'll sell it :)
I may be looking for a Gen-U-Wine Glen Campbell truss rod cover :)
