Jim
Also, how do you add a link with a simpler descriptive word? For example, instead of pasting the entire web address like I did above, I'd prefer to just insert "Ebow". |

Hold it next to the strings. It vibrates the string, you just fret the notes with your left hand. Was real popular in the 80's, gives sortofa slide sound, without sliding. Used to use one on "Love Hurts" with a slide sometimes. BOC uses one on Don't Fear the Reaper, at the end of the guitar solo a single note comes up and holds for about 10 bars, that's an eBow. Takes a little "technique" to get the hang of.
As far as the link... Use the reply button and click URL button. It will prompt for a description and link. |

OK, so let's see what I've learned about links:
Acoustic Ebow
Cool, it really works. Thanks for the quick lesson Mr. Ovation |

I vaguely remember that it interacts with the strings and actually drives the string to vibrate more/longer. Been a while though. It might have less effect on bronze strings than on steel or nickel.
Jim, if I can find mine without too much looking, I'll loan it to you to tinker with.

I'm really not very good on guitar yet and part of the reason is that I keep taking side roads (like this Ebow thing). Based on my history, I'll use it a lot for about 6 months until I get almost good and then pack it away for 20 years and finally sell it for $10. |

Here\'s a video of Phil Keaggy using one. He's pretty good with them. You can search "Phil Keaggy" ebow on youtube and get a few. |
