I've owned an Ovation Balladeer since 1973 (1111-6). When I first started playing guitar I had difficulty with bar chords. Another guitar player recommended an Ovation as he felt they were easier to play. Wasn't Ovation the only one using a curved fret board at the time?
Recently I purchased a new Standard Elite 2778AX-NEB (in my opinion it was an eBay steal for $338 and that was with a new gig case). Love the balance of the sound on the 2778AX though I wish it had the loudness of the old Balladeer. I know it's a Korean made guitar though I feel the craftsmanship is superb even though the neck is dovetailed in.
I have a question about the OP-Pro preamp. I initially connected it to an unbalanced input on a Delta 1010LT soundcard with a standard 1/4" jack but discovered there wasn't a lot of gain. When I used a passive DI that converted the unbalanced signal to a balanced one and connected the guitar to a XLR input, I got a lot more gain. Why is that?
