Hey everyone.

Just got home an hour ago and wanted to post some thoughts up here on the board.

Thanks to everyone who came up to the tour. it was a great day. The thursday pre and friday post jams were great. as well as the Friday scheduled jam.

I had a blast and want to thank all of those that attended. I am terrible with faces and names so if I look at you funny next time just remind me of your screen name and I will probably remember.

I want to thank Rick Hall for his planning and hosting. Frank Untermyer for taking the time from what is now a busy production time to have us all in the factory and allow us to tour the facility. Jol Danzig, the guru of Hamer, who always gives a fascinating tour. And never misses the opportunity to slice me with his dry humor.
Kim Keller and John Budny were their usual stellar selves. I especially like to thank all the men and women in the factory that took the time to demonstrate their jobs and answer questions and tolerate being under glass for a day.

I especially want to note what a good time the jam was. Everyone no matter of their level of talent had time to play and show off their guitar.
Even my crappy playing was tolerated for a few tunes.

Again naming names would take forever but thanks to all that attended.

Well as you can guess we are already talking about next year....

Al, it must have been cool seeing the LX models being made. Can you give us some info that the guys from Ovation told the group about the LX series. How are they selling, and an info on when the 12 string LX will be out?

the 12 will be out sooner than later although no set date was given. I guess it is still in the r & D stages now.

We will also see a deep bowl LX at some point. As for a shallow... there are not currently any made to the best of my knowledge

we are told the LX are selling well and they are back ordered on many models

Hey Al, you could have tried the good old fashioned tried and tested method of a bribe ;)
The way the new LX is going, seems the special builds will be a while longer than usual.

Sounds like a good time was had by all, the pics of the factory are really interesting, i wanna see more, every one must have their own impressions of how the factory should look and operate, the pics are a bit of an eye opener

I just wanted to thank Al and Miles; Rick, Frank and Kim at Ovation; and Jol at Hamer for a truely great day.

The tours were great. I think Ovation is definitely heading in the right direction with the LX's. And the jam was a blast. Everyone was great. Al especially blew me away with some really nice guitar solos. I'd also like to thank everyone for allowing my friend Tom and I to put in our two songs worth.

Last but not least, congratulations to Michael/Playadamas (I think that was his name) on winning the Legend LX.

To everyone, stay happy, healthy, and plugged in...or unplugged...until next year!!!

Cliff,
Wonderful pics! Names to faces as well.

Can you tell me anything about the luscious single inlaid epaulet Elite being passed around at Kim's house?

That was a guitar that Ovation built for Kim to gig with last year and field test the new OP Pro. While it's got inlaid epaulets, it's not an LX. But it had a bearclaw spruce top and lots of abalone. Beautiful sound, but I suspect that it's not going in the catalog. I forgot to ask about the bracing, but it appears to have the newer neck bracing (it had a truss rod cover).

Thank you, Tony PD. Yes, you got my name right. I guess we are now both elite members of OFCFTGW (OFC Factory Tour Guitar Winner) club. I am sure we are all grateful to Al and Miles for all the work they have done. Better yet, let's chip in and help next year. We should all volunteer to help with the preparation, planning and volunteering during the tour etc. I have already volunteered to be the Jam session coordinator for OFC Tour '05. Let's share the fun and the responsibility at the same time!

P.S. I do think the Legend LX is an exceptional guitar especially given the $999 street price. Moody and I were playing it at the airports on our way home and managed to turn some eyes (on the guitar, not my playing I assure you).

Paul, thanks! That must be the KX model that preceded the LX.

Kim, and I thought Eddie Van Halen was the luckiest guy in the world! Beautiful work your doing. Would love to meet you at next year's tour (wish).

Great idea on contributing efforts. Don't forget the idea of pulling local OFC jams together. It's the people that make it happen!
