| OK couple of interesting answers to previous posts, The Ovation Mandolin Question was dead on! Thanks looked up some info on the MM series ! That is the way I will go. They seem to run fairly cheap on ebay ( I don't mind a little wear on them)
also some more thoughts on the Amp question I saw? The Peavey Acoustic Amp I have is the Nuts for the sounds I am looking for! Bought a small Acoustic Zoom pedal for the Adamas's to see what these new Multi effects can do with this amp. It is nice and although I am a little confused trying to set my preferences and get them to a bank I can find quickly (and also keep them without deleting them) I am wondering about the Pod system?
Wondering if I can get a Board mounted Pods system that I can use for the Electric as well as the bass? I am looking for something that I can easily program to run some nice sounds for the Electric and then flip a switch and use for the Bass if I change instruments and amps? Anyone got the experience with these to give me an idea what might be out there? Most everything I have tried seems very complicated! and I hate to go back to a series of effects pedals and transformers and cords and less than perfect sounds? | I'll take this as a big fat "no we don't know anything about Pods ! and what do pods have to do with Ovation anyway? Sorry guys. I am being lazy I'll do the reserch myself it's the best way anyway! Randy |

The POD is a modeler of amps for the electric guitar. It won't change the sound of the guitar, just simulates different popular amps, as if you had a line of classic amps and plugged your guitar into them one at a time.
You're right, they don't have much to do with acoustic Ovations. But I'll play several of my Ovation electrics (Thunderhead, Viper Deluxe, Preacher 12 string)thru a POD and then straight into a PA. |

| Paul seriously this is Lazy of me I need to research these things better myself? Thanks for the info this is interesting! I have a feeling I will have to make my own effects set up! I really want something simple to use and I hate to go back to a rack full of effects pedals and wires and chargers etc. I like some of the old sound units but want the compact design of the newer units! The only problem for me is the complications of setting these new ones and learning how to keep them where I can find the channel I want with the push of one button? As it stands now I am using a Zoom Acoustics effects unit and I have it mounted on a stand where I can use it with my hands and not my feet! This works but can be inconvienent if I was playing out? Working on it I'll get it! just going through a learning curve with new tech stuff! |

I don't have a Pod but I do have a Line6 Flextone II that has the same electronics as the Pod. I use it for both electrics (Viper, Strat, Hamer, Ric) and bass. The only setting worthwhile for bass is the Fender Bassman emulation, but it is definitely sweet. With the multiple cabinet selector, you can tweak the sound a bit by going between 4 10's to a 15, etc. The effects work pretty well, too. For electric guitar, it's the bomb. Like Moody said, there are a whole bunch of different amp models that are in general very good. The nice thing about the Flextone are the two XLR output for going stereo into the mixer, and you can mute the speakers for recording purposes. Which is the way I seem to run it most of the time these days, so I probably could get away with the Pod if I didn't get that evil urge to irritate all the neighborhood animals every once in a while.
I let the Flextone handle all the effects for me, and the only outboard thing I occasionally add is my old Thomas Organ manufactured Crybaby. I guess the downside is that you can only run one effect setting at a time ... some newer models allow multiple effects simultaneously. But I generally play pretty clean so it's not a factor for me.
In all, a good all-in-one solution for what I need. |

I was waiting for the maestro. Paul T, to weigh in on this as somewhere he describes his pedal setup, maybe in the gallery, and it is very compact and convenient. I have used my Zoom 505II with my solid body Viper and enjoy the various effects and amp simulations. I have absolutely no acoustic experience with it and I just run my BB Jr on a mandolin through a Martin preamp so I have volume and tone control and feed into a solid state amp with very little effects and get pretty good acoustic sound.

| Interesting I did look at the Gallery? Did not see the pedal board? Nice Guitars Paul! Kinda liked that funny looking blue one with the funny looking head stock! I'll figure out the effects problem Know a guy with a music store he is willing to take the time with me to go through a bunch of his stuff and I think I will be setting up a custom built board gotta get out the soldering iron and start building! | Ohh boy That's what I'm talking about! Nice Paul! I have some work to do there is some gear in there I was not aware of! I have some research to do! gonna be expensive but this is just about what I am after! Paul how do you pedal through this equipment? or do you have some other trick for this rig? Do you set this on the floor? or is it up where you can get to it between songs? etc. ? I did look in the Gallery? all I saw was that terrible collection of Guitars! I have stated many times How much of a "Dinosaur" I am when it comes to the new effects pedals?
Found a great book called "The Boneheads guide to modern effects" I ordered it is aparently filled with chapters on Acoustics, Bass, and electric guitars! Boss, Zoom and others! Just what this Bonehead needs! So for the rest of us who may not be as informed or experienced, or just plain inhibited with these new wonders of sound enhancement this may be just the thing! For what it's worth I'll let you know if this book is as good as it looks! Thanks again All!
