Any education you guys can provide would be thoroughly enjoyed...picts would be great, too! Thanks in advance...John. |

Make sense?

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | Most Ovation tops are bookmatched...I think it refers to the fact that one of these guitars was featured on the cover of the "History of Ovation Guitars" book.

Location: 6 String Ranch | The "book" models are the ones dressed up like the one on the cover of the book. Very simple I know but it was the best I could come up with on short notice. There were supposed to be 6 and 12 and mando and viper and longneck and mandocello and bass. I think all that ever got made were 6, mando and viper. There may be more. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | John, In 1996 Ovation made a special version of the Elite to celebrate the 30th anniversary. It is the model 1768-LTD. People started calling it the "Book Elite" because it's picture is on the cover of the History of Ovation book. They also made a mandolin, viper, and 12-string of the same version and these all took on the name "Book". So when people are talking about the Book Elite and Book Mando, they mean the '96 limited edition set. There's photos of these in my gallery. Dave |

| FYI...there's a Custom Elite on ebay right now (apr06) which seems to be the book Elite that has been mentioned; it has the abalone headstock, etc; fanciest Elite i've ever seen...

Steve, The Custom Elite is very similar to the Book Elite except for 1) color, 2) fretboard inlays, and 3) rarity.

| dave, yes, i see the difference now; i am used to seeing elites with the enlays; the ad i referred to said that particular elite was a 768, of which ovation made 100 for the japanese market in 1998, so maybe $1200 is about right?, seems high to me...

I would love to see the picture of you playing that LX with your beautiful daughter, but I am still blind from the flash of so many book Ovations in one picture. I hope it is temporary like snow blindness ("Snow Blind" good song by Hoyt Axton).
There should be a law against so much abalone in one location. Wait a minute, there is a law about how much Abalone can be pried loose in one diving expedition, YOU'RE BUSTED, send me the evidence or you will be visited by the Fish and Game Nazis, and they know how to make you talk and talk and talk.

that was the same shirt he wore to the OFC he HAS NOT CHANGED IT FOR 4 weeks. His daugher is actually screaming into the microphone for CPS to come to her rescue. |
