Now that you have spent some quality time with the new slothead Adamas, how about a detail report? Has any of your sons or friends seen it and any comments there? |

Full, warm, deep, are words that come to mind. I like others playing it and tilting their head and listening. Guitar Player December 2003 called it a "12 fret maverick that features a woven carbon-fiber top adorned with gold speckles"...
I like "maverick". I think it was built to show or "put up" that if push came to shove Ovation could put out an acoustic guitar.
It (IMHO) is a little on the plain side. It is/ was meant to stand on its sound. When I use a capo it still has guts. That did / does surprize.
My son has a teacher who is a "Martin" snob. He knows of my Ovation passion and gives Ovation its credit with reguards to its pluged in sound. He is an acoustic snob. This guitar did make him nod. He's still a snob... But he has a new found respect. That is the fun part of this guitar. Turning heads.
I guess we all look for "validation" on any new purchase... I like sneaking up on people with this one.

I'm really sorry that we didn't get that "side by side" pic of your new Slot and my old one like you wanted, I would've liked to have a copy of that as well. I wanted to get one at the Fri. Jam at the Elks, but the night just flew by like a blur. Before I knew it, it was time to go . . .
Maybe we can hook up some weekend this summer in Newport?? (I love Newport!!)
I was really impressed by the sound of that guitar when I played it at the Thurs. nite hotel Jam. It sounds a little "warmer" than mine and maybe not as loud, but it's got a VERY impressive acoustic guitar sound. "Validation" is a befitting term, as this guitar DOES offer that in that Ovation CAN (still!) produce a great-sounding ACOUSTIC guitar!!! I seriously hope that they consider putting this guitar into production (and PROMOTE it effectively). |

I'm 15 min. from Newport. Any time. I do have that thing they call a job that can have me out of town... Drop a note when/if and we can hook up.
Since this post... I've been thinking I could / should take the SH to a couple of music stores and show it off a little. You know, ask what they know about it... Get a price.
I've jotted a note about "my" Guitar Center sales guy (Keith)... Ever since the Mother Ship had him visit (The Land of "O")he's one of us.
Come to think of it... I should see if he ever gets "on line"... He could add a perspective.
I do have a couple of pic's. I don't think they show "her" well.
I'll see if I can figure out how to load...

Location: Fayetteville, NC | The Slothead that was being passed around Thursday night at the Hotel Lobby "jam" was a real Beaut! She sounded unlike any other 6 string I've played. Nice & Full absolutely Beautiful Tone! Thus the descriptive words Love, Foaming at the Mouth Etc.
Woz, You got yourself a great Guitar, Thanks for Sharing it with us at the gathering. Can't wait to see what you Bring to next years gathering! |
