I know that there are those who dislike eBay, but if you want a deep bowl Ovation, don't wait for the factory to reintroduce them, go to eBay. I received my '81 1117 Legend yesterday via UPS (intact). It has an incredible sunburst finish and the only flaw is a 1" finish crack below the bridge. It sold for $260 including shipping and a mediocre (non-Ovation)case. Took it home last night, put new strings on it, adjusted the K-bar and enjoyed one of the best sounding O's I've ever had the chance to play. I've read posts from others stating that the straight acoustic bridge has superior acoustic sound to the piezo saddle bridge. I agree! This guitar sounds better acoustically than my 1619 Custom Legend.
No offense Cliff, but eBay RULES!!! :p

That would follow my "Every car I bought, I bought American because I bought it used, from an American" soapbox. It is exciting to see what will come out of Connecticut next.

If they don't I would project that any damaged or available deep bowl could be canabilized to make what you want!

Sacriligeous but possible!

This is why I bought my 1978-vintage 1617 Legend. I started thinking about what it would cost to have a deep bowl Legend custom-made(LX didn't enter into it, and I frankly didn't care). I figured roundly it would take around $1200-$1300, and decided that a used Legend deep bowl made more sense.

I spent $350 on it, and although I am going to have to spend some more money to have the frets dressed on it, plus ordering a new truss rod cover and tone knob from the Mothership, I think I'm still significantly ahead on money. And it sounds wonderful.

I would have bought a NEW deep-bowl Legend if they were regular catalog and easily available.

I suppose this is blasphemy on this forum, but I have noticed lately playing other brands(since my local GC doesn't have any U.S. Ovations right now) that Gibson jumbos(J-150, SJ-200) have a very similar bottom end sound and tone to a deep-bowl O. Hmmmmm.......
