im quite new in the ovation thing, now ive done my research buy reading topics here and elsewhere.
the only ovation ive played is the elite special s778 and i was stonned about everything in it.it really rocks.
Here right now there no LX that i can try and i intend to purchase an ovation.
im mainly an elctric guitar player(rock, blues, jazz,)but in the last two years i started to play also classical and flamenco.but im still playing more rock style than any other style and im looking for an easy acoustic guitar to play (the easiest to bend cause after an two hours gig i really hope to feel my fingers).

i wanted to purchase an s778 but i came across a standard elite 6778 in music 123 for about the same price 850$ and im wondering why is it so "cheap".i now that its not an elite lx and i now the main differencesbetween standard lx and elite lx (gold tuner ebony fingerboard and bridge,aa top for the elite .
and for the standard chrome tuners rosewood fingerboard/bridge and a top)
does the difference between elitelx&standard justify the difference in the price?

whats your opinion about the standard lx VS the elite special s778.
wich guitar do you think is the easiest to play?

i really need your help on this subject cause right now theresno place where i can try an lx.
and if i will buy an ovation i dont think that i can exceed 900$.
so what the best ovation at this range.

Welcome BIX

This is the ongoing dilemma of model selection and no "hands on" to help decide.

"What's your opinion about the standard lx VS the elite special s778. Which guitar do you think is the easiest to play?"

First suggestion - wait until you can get your hands on the ones you want.

Next suggestion - Save more and get an Elite LX or the Legend Lx. You will have to wrestle with the better-than-current-model question, but their are veery nice.

Patients will pay off.

It sounds like GAS has set in bad. You are going to spend $900 to $1,100 before its all over.

You might need to travel... But call around and find out who has what you need/want.

Let's see, it is 4-26-04 you can have played and "tested" all the LXs by 7-4-04.

Unless you are like me and have to put out the GAS and buy "something"... Do as I say and not as I do... Play both and pick the one that kicks your ass.

Woz.

PS: In the last week I've "lusted" after a 97,94,2001 Collector. I need help with my own GAS.

If you Don't think you can exceed $900, Think in reality.. If you can spend $900 you could spend at least $90 to $100 More...For that price you could get either an Elite LX or A Legend LX. Both Greta Guitars that you'll want to keep Forever and Ever AMEN!
If $900 Tops is your limit, My advice is to try The Standard Baladeer LX,..I got to play one at The Factory Tour and It REALLY SANG!! :D
Did't Get to play The Standard Elite LX But Did Play The Elite LX and a Legend LX,..Both Great Guitars! With just a little Planning and saving,..
You'll be really Happy With Your Ovation Purchase.
The Prices I gave are estimates... If you can Play any of them For Yourself.. You migfht be able to form your own Opinion and then Proceed.
Well,..Am I helping or just confusing you??
Hopefully, it helps insted of hinders. :)

No, buy the 1777 LX (personally I like the transparent burgundy) from Al...I never asked him the price prior to ordering from him. His price delivered is better than anything I have seen and that includes the internet. Since January, Al has sold me four guitars (two 1777 LX's and two 30th Anniv Custom Legends.) In fact, when I bought the first one from him (30th Anniv CL) on Jan 4th, I paid him $50 more than he asked!! Good product, good service, good price.

By the way, the transparent burgundy - if you haven't seen it, check it out. Most finishes like dark sunburst hide the grain, not this one.

Hi

I'm new to the forum. Been signed up for a few weeks & posted about 3/4 times. George Dubick turned me on to Music 123 and I bought an LX Elite for about $830. So far, I'm please with the guitar. The shipping was free. I got the blond version.

I have never regretted getting my Elite LX. I do regret not having more O's. Such is life.

thanks "Steve" ive already checked it out and it seems to me like a good price although its an FRG (refurbished)and right now i dont know if im ready to take the risk to buy a refurbished.

anyway my biggset problem is still the money issue and my second biggest problem is that i dont live in the US.so im waiting that a relative will come from the US to my country and i ll ask him to bring the guitar with him.
thats why i cannot take a risk with any guitar that as a flaw even physical till i can see it.

by the way "Slap" the guitar that you buyed is aparently the one that i want to buy too.even the color is what im looking for (blond=natural right?) have you posted any picture of yours in the Fan Club gallery picture?
can you post me pics of your guitar please?i would really like to see the finish of it.

and by the way how is the guitar?how is the sound unplugged?,is it easy to play?(as easy as an electric, easy to bend string and stuff like that if you play electric you certainly know what im talking about.)

hope you ll answer my reply(Slap )

Bix and Sam Welcome!!
Sam To upload Photos to the photo Gallery.
Click on member access, Then on Photo Gallery.
on the top you'll see a Utility Button. Click on that the Upload Photo Button is on the Right.
When you click on that you should be able to look on your Computers Drive(Where you saved your Photos) Then go from there. You'll be able to add Captions or descriptions. You'll also be able to add additional albums to your gallery later(Like Then and Now Photos, OtherGuitars, Etc.)
Hope this helps.
Peace

Bix/Steve

Finally figured the formula re the photo album. I stuffed some photos of the LX in my folder and please don't hesitate to give me an email if you want my opinion of this round back.... (sam.laprade@vaultsec.com)

But Bix, as I can tell, and I have been at this stuff for a long time ( 40 some odd years) it is a fine guitar... and I paid like I said before..$830 and no shipping charges... Music 123, I believe...ships directly from the Ovation factory....good instrument. I would not have known about this deal if not for this forum and my friend George Dubick.

regards
