I have a Folklore with serial #203174. This looks like it was made 1979. But the numbers stop at 203000 for 1979 and start at 211011 for 1980? So was it made during 1979 and why is there a gap in serial numbers between 79 and 80?

The best I can say is that the reference tables for serial numbers is "roughly, approximately, almost correct." There are gaps and inconsistencies. And is a guitar built on December 20th really any different than one built on January 5th? I would say you have a late '79 or early '80 guitar.

BTW, someone on this board (zorjon) was interested to by a Folklore a few days ago. Not sure if you're selling or not. If you are, you may want to contact him.

Thanks Dave no big deal. Just though there might be some reason for the gap in serial numbers between 79 to 80.
