Preachers

Are Preachers a rare breed? What is the general consensus....good guitar or bad guitar? It was popular in the 80's to replace pickups at least and in the case of the regular Preacher, not a bad idea. Of course the Ovation pickups are a proprietary design so the outcome wasn't very eye-catching unless someone really knew what they were doing. These are the Preachers I see a lot of. I also see ones that have obviously been played within an inch of their life. I personally don't like the stock Preacher that much compared to the others, but it would seem that a lot of people liked them almost too much and played the daylights out of them in whatever shape they were in. To answer your question, I don't find them particularly rare, just harder to find a really good one these days. It seems excellent samples of most of the others pop up quite often.
