I just took a look at the vid clip over on D'Addario's webpage. Al is playing three guitars - don't know what he's playing, but its not his Ovation.

That seems like a bit of a slap, considering Ovation uses D'Addario strings nearly exclusively, puts tags to that effect on new guitars etc etc.

I was wondering if he uses Ovations to record with, or does he use them only in live situations?

I've seen AD use other guitars as well as Ovations...it says in his album "Flesh On Flesh" that he uses Godin and Conde acoustics in addition to his Ovation, plus Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster electrics. He chooses to have many aural colors in his pallette. I can appreciate that.
