ive seen legend LX's in the clear maroon finish and an elite LX in guitar centers exclusive "honeyburst" finish-looked like new england burst pics...so my question is

does the black cherry finish on the elite lx show the grain of the guitar? i cant tell from any pics ive seen. seems like it would....

thanks,
john

jdemic,

I can't speak for the LX but I have a Standard Elite (6868) in Black Cherry Burst and from a distance it appears to be a solid color but up close and in the light you can see the grain thru the cherry color (has almost a pearlescent effect as the light reflects the grain)

The Black Cherry finish is my favorite. Second would be the New England Burst.

Playing an Elite LX yesterday, I found that I liked the New England much more than I thought I would. The pic in the catalong doesn't do it justice.

Now having said that, when I buy an LX DEEP BOWL (god but I'm being a persistant prick about this -- I gotta get a life), it will be with a natural top treated with ager toner.

I guess I am getting old, have to agree with Moody on this give me a natural aged top. I think the bursts are ugly. Played one last week and right next to it was the 30th aniversery with a natural bear claw. That is drop dead gorgeous.

The Elite LX (1778LX) comes in natural, black, or black cherryburst. Per the catalog and webpage.

Keep in mind you can also ask for a special Finish Job if you want. It may cost you a little extra ,.. but they do a great job. My 1858 Elite 12 String was done with a 8T Transparent Blue Finish. I love it!

My 1858 is in BCB. The grain shows through very well. Very rich looking finish. I don't know about the LX models, the only one I've seen I was too busy playing to look at the top a whole lot.
