Location: Texas | Greetings Ovation fans,
We love guitars so much that it would be interesting to know what are your current listening music pleasures these days.
Mine, in rotation this week are:
1.Paco de Lucia - Cositas Buenas (scary)
2.Tony Rice - The Bluegrass Guitar Collection (great new compilation)
3.Shakti - A Handful of Beauty (makes you feel very humble)
4.Tony Rice - Devlin (on lots of tracks here Tony plays an Ovation Legend)
5.Sam Bush - King of the World (great, highly recommended)
So, what is on your CD player?
Best,
Serge

That is cool man.
I also love Jim Croce and Maury M.very much and I am enjoying the new DVD JIm Croce Live, where you can see them sing and play their Ovations.
I also listen to Loggins & Messina quite often, the On Stage album is great and Glen C. is also a favorite.
Good music.

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | My tastes change with the wind too, but right now in the 6 cd changer in the car:
1)Willy Porter-High Wire LIve (an AWESOME sugestion from Cliff...dynamite cd, just got it this week)
2)Dakota Moon (debut cd)-Very polished acoustic "pop" rock with fanastic vocals and harmonies.
3)Joss Stone-Soul Sessions...INCREDIBLE debut cd from a new young (18ish) singer...very authentic, raw soul music. What a ballsy voice! Not fitting the mold of today's young singers...an old soul, and very talented.
4)Police-Best of. Hardly ever listen to this, but we took it on our trip to Maine last week.
5)Eagles-CD1 from the latest "best of" from last year.
6)Toby Lightman-debut cd from another young female acoustic artist. Very good, but not my thing...too electronic "pop" for my taste, (despite the acoustic guitar). One of Shel's picks for the trip to Maine still lingering in the player.

Location: Florida | Got a real cool CD player in my truck... Ford OEM CD/MP3 player thats "just right" technically - ie, large buttons, simple display, few yet basic functions.
Its nice having one CD full of blues numbers - everyone from Elmore James, to Buddy Guy, to BB, to Hutto, to Jr Wells, to Albert King... you name it, I've got it in blues... even "Screamin'" Jay Hawkins.
Got another CD with everything the Beatles did - even the obsure and pretty lousy sturr.
Got another CD with all sorts of my favorites, a real hodgepodge - from Abba (yes... two songs) to EC, to ZZ top, to James Taylor, to Carol King, to Chuck Berry and Steve Miller, to CSNY, to Jimmy Buffet to Paul Simon to The Carpenters to ... just about everybody got two songs.
Keep in mind, at moderate bit rates, you can easily get 240 popular length songs on one CD in the MP3 format.
Working one one more... all Christian artists, its not quite ready yet though. |

Franz Liszt - Bolero & The Hungarian Rhapsodies
Little Feat - Feats Don't Fail Me Now, Let It Roll
Little Walter - Willie Dixon Chess Box, Disc 1
Living Coulor - Vivid
Lizzy Borden - Menace to Society, Master of Disguise

| Since I have been working hard with the Keyboard player, on the Bass, I can now do some of the music I passed up years ago.
I am craming my head full of "Yes" I am beginning to enjoy the hour and fifteen minute ride each way to work!
Now all I have to do is figure out how to play the guitar while I am driving!
Yes Songs
Yes Fragile
Yes Drama
Yes Talk
The Yes Album
Yes Relayer
Chris Squire Fish out of Water
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd The Wall
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Genesis The Trick of the Tail
Genesis And Then there were Three
Peter Gabriel Big Time just that song
Steely Dan Decade
U.K. U.K.
The Police Syncronicity
Ohh my God my fingers and arms are tired from that dam Bass! Not used to those Fat Strings and long frets yet!
Want to do a Medley for "The Who" with stuff that ranges from Quadrophenia, Who's Next, Tommy, Etc.
Will work that out when we find the perfect drummer and at least one more guitarist who can also sing & switch to bass?
Where ever I can fit in the Acoustics in the songs I do?
For relaxation, and a break, it's mostly Niel Young, The Beatles, Dave Mathews, Joe Walsh and the Eagles. I almost forgot James Taylor.
I have to get some Cat Stevens stuff! Have to get a nice old Ovation Classical like I used to have before I sold it! What a dummy! |

| Actually, my cd player has been getting less use since I bought an mp3 jukebox. I think it holds about 3000 songs. Currently I have about 1800 songs on this baby. It's great to have it all in one little box and get the variety to fit every mood. Beatles, Chris Isaak, Creedence, Led Zepp, Avril, Boston, Chuck Mangione, James Horner, John Williams, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Carpenters, Liszt, Beethoven, Mowtown. If you have not joined the world of the massive memory MP3 player, I would suggest you check it out! I took this baby on a cross-country plane trip! Wow, it made the trip easier! Check out Dell or Apple! |
