Those of you on eBay this afternoon may have heard the whoosh of a Hurricane going by, before I hit the BIN button. :D

Should touch down next week. Stated to be rare Nutmeg color. Anyone with model info, quantity made, or Nutmeg finish info, please post!

All I have to go on is The O Book, Miles' Storm Series site, and Ovation's timeline (July 68 to August 69 only).

I'll report in when it arrives.

That's a cool guitar, man. The yellowish color at the top of the headstock is interesting. Looks like a good buy.

Cheese and rice! Ovation made a semi-hollowbody, too!?! Here I spent most of today scoping out all the cool ES135/335 clones on eBay. Feh...I think I'll cry, I could've killed two birds with one stone! =(

Enjoy and congrats!

Last time someone offered me a Hurricane, they wanted $1,200.
Enjoy

Barry, You are IN LUCK. I was the previous owner of that nutmeg Hurricane! You can see photos of it in the members gallery. I sold it to Larry about 1.5 years ago. When I saw it on eBay, I thought it must have been mine so I emailed him and confirmed that it was the one he brought from me. This is a ONE OF A KIND guitar. The history is that Ovation never offered the Hurricane in nutmeg. But somehow one of the employees at Milano's Music here in Arizona ended up with one. It was either a customer order, a mistake, or a body swap with a nutmeg Thead or Tornado. Anyway, it is definately a one of a kind. I bought it from Milano's some years ago (10?). It's a great guitar. The face of the headstock is stained dark, but the neck and thus also the lip on the headstock are blonde. Sadly, due to an Ovation buying frenzy I sold it to Larry about 1.5 years ago (I have 2 other Hurricanes, so I was able to "survive"). There is no label inside the body, but the serial number is on the neck block. Look under the plate and you may find my initials "DW". I scribed these on most of my Storm guitars. Anyway, good luick with it. It really GREAT for me to know that my guitar ended up in the hands of another OFC member. Small world.

Dave, small world indeed! I was rereading old posts here last night and wondered if this one was yours. Thanks for filling in the history.
It is coming to a loving home.

And the last question, one not solved in archived posts (that I saw), is how many Hurricanes were produced total? Anyone know this?

I was once told that an approximate, rough, guestimate of the Hurricanes was about 300, more or less. You'll enjoy the guitar. I think I have a bunch of photos of it that I can send you.

Congrats on the Hurricane!

The seller is the same guy I just bought a 1981 Custom Legend from a couple of weeks ago. A great seller; thorough in his descriptions and very reasonble pricing.

That looks like one cool guitar you got comin' your way...

Enjoy!

Jeff
