Just reading specs on the Ovation page. I always thought that the new Al D model had the new scalloped X bracing, but it's actually a modified A pattern. Wonder if it's the same as in the FD14?

I am really pleased with my AD II.
What is the FD14?

Folklore Deluxe. Limited run guitar based on the original Folklore from the 1970's. Maybe one of the best sounding guitars Ovation ever built.

By the way Brad, I just bought a 1972 Baladeer on ebay, just like yours. How would you compare the sound of your's to your AD II?

Elderly had a FD-14 Folklore Deluxe last summer that I was able to play....IMHO the best-sounding NEW Ovation that I have ever played. If the AD II has the same bracing, it should be fabulous.

Yeah, Brad, spill it, which sounds better, your old Balladeer or the new AD?....that question had crossed my mind....inquiring minds want to know!!!! :)

That's a tough question.
IMHO.....Tone wise, the AD-II has crisper highs and lower lows. Unplugged it is louder. I have played 3 Adamas guitars. I would say the AD-II is comparable sound wise.
Playability wise, nothing can beat that old Balladeer neck. And the AD-II is heavier.
I'm glad I don't have to pick one over the other.
Paul, Congrates on the new, old Balladeer. In a few weeks I may ask the same question of you!

Can someone please confirm the bracing pattern of the FD14. I looked inside and I swear it is A braced, but only has 5 braces, not the usual 7. And the braces are much shorter than I normally see. Is this particular to cedar top guitars. Could it be one of the reasons it sounds so damn nice.
