Location: Scarborough UK | I own a Washburn guitar which I have enjoyed playing and It's coming up to my 50th birthday and I always promised myself an Ovation (USA made) but I can't make up my mind between a Balladeer or an Elite LX- ?
Are there many pros and Cons?
Have you got any suggestions?

Robert, the answer to your question is ultimately that you need to try both and decide. But if you can't, the two guitars have different sounds. The Balladeer has a more country/folk sound IMHO than the Elite. This is not to say the Elite is bad for that type of music, it most certainly is NOT. But my ears say that it has a more "refined" sound than the Balladeer.
My personal preference is for the Balladeer, but I tend towards country/folk/blues.

Location: Yucaipa, California | I would vote for the Elite LX (isn't it great to spend someone else's money!).
I have a Balladeer and a 2001 Collector's (multi-hole) and for my workhorse guitar, I use the Balladeer, but for Special Music in Church, etc, I use the 2001. It just has that certain something that cannot be defined, plus my wife calls the epaulettes "Angel Wings".... seems like a perfect choice for a Minister! |

I'm just trying to save the guy some time here!
He'll buy the Balladeer because it's less expensive and he'll get hooked. Then he'll have to have a Multi-hole so he can argue with the rest of us and then he'll want to get a 12 string.
Oh, gotta have an Adamas! Ooh! Look what they did the LX thing to! Hey these Glen Campbell models are cool. What's an FD14?

Let me add that any LX is great, go as fast as your wallet will let you! I have an Elite LX that I love. I played a Legend LX the other day - No argument. Currently awaiting a CL12. Loving it all.
Wish I had a Breadwinner too. |

Actually, my recommendation would be for a Legend, LX or non-LX, but I presume that the guitars mentioned are ones that are within reach, and that is the choice.

Location: south east Michigan | For 8 months I was dead set on a multi-hole. At the last instant I was smitten by a single hole. Follow you heart and you'll be happy.
However, IMHO, if it is between a non-LX Balladeer and a Elite-LX, go with the LX upgrade.
