The So. Cal. PBS stations are in the middle of their pledge break and they aired the Seattle Heart Concert on Saturday night... Nancy played her blue Legend 12 (I guess that's the right model).... very nice!

I have the DVD. Actually, I believe it is Ann's 12-string. Looks like a custom blue Legend shallow-bowl. There is a web site that has a picture of that guitar and another Ovation 12-string she has. If I find it again(it's been months since I looked at it), I'll post the link.

Nancy uses a Legend 12-string in her guitar lesson video as well.

Counting the days until my wife and I see them on August 16th. Their new album "Jupiter's Darling" comes out next week.......

It's Ann's Legend. Here's the best picture I could find.

It's more likely that it's a Balladeer. There's no binding around the neck.

I believe she has MikeLull do any repairs. Here is part of her 12 strings on his site:

Gotta love it!

I always loved to hear their guitar playing. especially the stuff they used acoustics on.
It's great to see them do a new release. I look forward to hearing them do more.

Paul M. is right, it's a Balladeer....I've never had a close enough look at it to see that it didn't have binding on the neck. Mike Lull's site is where I saw the guitars a few months back. Ann's other natural Custom Legend (looks like it at least) 12-string looks like the one Nancy uses in her instructional video.

This blue Balladeer 12-string is also used by them in "The Road Home" video.

The new release is supposed to be very hard rocking, so don't hold your breath for any acoustic stuff on it.

Looking at the blue 12-string some more, I can see why I was crossed up.....the headstock is BLACK, and it appears to be a shallow-bowl. If it's a Balladeer, it's WAY custom. Custom color, custom headstock finish, and it's a shallow-bowl(don't think stock Balladeer 12-strings have come in shallow-bowl for many years, if ever). I figured it was a custom color 1866 Legend.

I saw a clip of Nancy playing "Dog And Butterfly" from the Seattle show last year using her Ovation. All I can say is, "beautiful",gorgeous, spectactular! The guitar was nice too. ;)

Let's face it guy's. After the first "Oh, my gawsh!" every one of you would would be checking the guitar type, style, serial # and label if you had good seats! Moody and Cliff could both tell you what gage the strings were and if they were Poly coated or Nano Coated!

BTW - When you have people handing you a first issue Adamas and saying "please play me" how do you play anything but a custom whatzit after that?

The Wilson sisters are in my mind the two most beautiful sirens to ever hold a pick and sing a song. They are one of the Icons of my generation and every time I catch one of their performances I am carried away.

Sigh!!

Woody's right!

I remember going to see a band with my "date" in the '70s and having her dance/leave with someone else because all I wanted to do was check out the guitars and watch the guitarists to learn their chops! ...sigh... had GAS even then!

Just visited the official Heart Website. Heard some clips from the new LP. Yep still Some great acoustic work in there and some real Rockers too.
In The Photo Gallery though.. no shots of Ovations being played. In one shot you can see the back of an Ovation 12 String in the guitar rack. Hope there will still be some Ovations on this tour.

Actually, Ann has lost a lot of weight. I saw her on a show on The Learning Channel about gastric bypass surgury, which Ann had a few years back. She looked pretty good. She's not thin by any means, but she looks much thinner and healthier. If you ask me (and no one did), I think Ann has one of the greatest voices in the history of rock music, if not the best. I'm glad that she is still out there performing.

Ann had the stomach banding, not gastric bypass. Same results. The goal is health, not babe looks.

My wife had gastric bypass surgery in January and is down almost 80 lbs. She feels better physically and mentally. The returned babe looks are a wonderful by product.

How you guy's can take a picture of a beautiful woman and turn it back to your own sordid, twisted, despicable interpretation of fun just escapes me. // Cliff's montage of The Wilson Sister With The Ovation snipped for bandwidth //

The center picture looks like it came off the 'Barracuda' video they just played on VH1 Classic. I don't know who the guy is that played the Explorer-type guitar, but I want to be him...a couple taps and hammers here and there throughout the song and that's that...the Strat player was getting a workout, though.

Haven't seen the video, but the Strat player was probably Roger Fisher, Nancy's squeeze at that time. The Explorer player was probably Howard Leese, who ended up being the last original member along with the sisters.

Hrmm, I can't find any information about a Washburn AC30 on the intarweb. And the closes thing that washburn.com has are those Dimebag Darrel things (at least that I can find). I think if I went for an Exploder-type, I'd have to go with the WHITE FUZZY DEAN Z!

I can hardly wait to get my hands on their new CD. I have long been a fan of the girls. As far as Ann being one of the greatest singers in rock history, I've been listening to rock music for over 40 years, and only one voice gives me chills just thinking about hearing it. And it belongs to Ann Wilson. BTW this saturday (June 19) is Ann's birthday. I hope she blesses our ears for many more years.
The best sounding guitar? Any guitar she is singing along to.

Please tell me you weren't the songwriter who wrote that song. :)

One of my other personalities is asking if it's ok to chime in here with his thoughts on how country music of today is really a re-hash of bad pop-rock from the 80s. No, I didn't think anyone would say he could....

The Lovemongers' CD is good as well!
They do a kickass version of Zep's "Battle for Evermore" and an acoustic version of (of all things?) "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". I haven't listened to it in a while, but I think there's an acoustic version of "Baracuda" as well.

This whole thread reminds me of a classic poem that goes somewhat like this "grow old with me and...."

That's all I can remember but it is great to see this kind of loyality to musicians who mixed sex appeal with some good music, I equate the level of showmanship as a good gauge of what will last, but the music HAS to be there.

Just saw Heart on NBC's early morning show. Not an Ovation in sight.
Nancy was playing a Tak. Of course they only played 3 songs, so maybe there will be some O's in a full program.

Nancy has played a Takamine 6-string as her main guitar for a while; she uses it extensively in her Starlicks Sessions instructional video. Indeed, she poses with it on the cover!

Also, she endorsed Takamine in an ad in a few music magazines last year.

She does use Ovation 12-strings, though, and used a Custom Legend 12-string for one song on the Starlicks video.

In the last few months, she and Ann have done an endorsement ad for Daisy Rock guitars in Guitar Player. I have some expectation to see her use an electric or two of theirs on tour this year.
