I know this bothers the bejezus out of some of you, but you were warned.
I had to make a road trip today and I got near enough to the other Guitar Center on this side of Michigan to make a stop. It is a much nicer store than the one by me.
OFC member Roger always talks about the one Adamas that is kept way out of reach. It's still there. I said to the sales guy, "that guitar has been mentioned across the country". He asked why and I told him no one can try it to see what a great guitar it is and it really should be displayed in the high end room. (The long drive must have gotton the better of me.)He said that , "Well, maybe one of us should come in and buy it".
They had two Elite Flames. Very nice.

Hey, that GC must really like that Adamas not to make any effort to sell it.

I spent part of my dat in a GC in Phoenix the other dat and actually watched the salesguy (who claimed to be an O fan and owner) sell a guy a S771. He was actually enthusiastic about it. It was nice to see. I was trying to talk the guy into an Elite LX.

Geez, Brad, WHERE WERE YOU???? I was there this afternoon between 5:15 to 5:45......missed you by "that" much!!!!!

Yep, the Adamas is still in the rafters. It was in the high-end room ONCE for a week after Christmas when they were low on stock, and I did get to play it then. It does not have the original strings on it, they put cheap strings on it as replacements, and they do not do the guitar justice.

Actually, they have THREE flame Elite Ts. Their acoustic room person told me he has one in the box in storage as well. That is THREE out of 200 total. They are numbered.

Roger,
I was there at about 4:30.
After re-reading my first post, I think it sounds like I was being kind of a fan-boy A-hole. It wasn't realy that way. The salesman was okay.
They had a Taylor that was stickered at over $5200. On open chords it sounded fantastic. But going up the neck it lost alot. It must be that "eveness" thing I hear about. (I'm learning)

Maybe as GC gets bigger they will educate their sales people better. They need to be selling everything all the time.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with the sales person that was in their acoustic room last night. He was the person who closed the deal with me on my cedar-top Balladeer. If he had run the acoustic room full-time this last year, I'd probably have bought another guitar or two at my local GC. A nice person and he listens, a really good combination for a salesperson.

I saw the $5200 Taylor, but didn't bother with it. The only Taylors I like on a consistent basis are their 12-strings. And Ovation/Adamas 12-strings are still better.
