This springs from another thread, but deserves its own.

Has anyone tried the AD-8? If so, what are your opinions of it?

A friend of mine has one. It allows several sounds to be programmed, stored and recalled, They've added some extra features to the microphone modelling functions and the feedback filter is automated as on the AD3. Also The AD8 features digital modelling and can model the charater of 6 "classic" acoustic guitars. Why? If wanted to make my Ovations sound like Martins or Taylors I'd go out & buy a Martin or Taylor. The AD8 sounds fine, though not significantly different (without the modelling) to the AD5 and personally I don't need the extra features the AD8 offers. I've yet to find anything that would replace my AD5's

Thanks for the insight. I think I will have to hear one of these and like those Martin/Gibson/Guild sounds enough to justify the amount of cash it would take for the upgrade. The only advantage having them would offer me seems to be the option of changing tone with a footswitch, much as simply adding a variety of tone shaping effects.
