I love the fact that the back bowl is made in the USA, but is there any way to get the date of manufacture from the import versions?
Otherwise, it's a great guitar. I haven't changed the strings yet (it comes with .012's), but I'll slap some .011's on it soon. The guitar sounds fairly loud for its size; many thinline AE models just don't cut through as well as this one in an unplugged setting.
Shots of the axe are right here: http://i-love-tazzus.livejournal.com/538705.html
Hopefully, my next Ovation will be a nylon classical model, or something with at least a mid-depth body for more acoustic projection. |

Hope you enjoy your new axe. Plugged in the Celebrity's hold their own. Keep watching eBay some good bargains on USA Ovations. |

BTW: Even though she is multinational in origin, she still plays sweetly. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Welcome. If you're trying to improve the action by going to lighter strings, you might take out a shim under the saddle instead and try that. With the shallow bowls you can use all the help you can get to get some projection, so the 11s might sound tinny. |

Location: New Jersey (NYC Area) | I'm going for the .011's partly because it'll make it easier to try two handed tapping techniques on the guitar without killing my fingers. Plus, it's easier to bend .011's too. I don't think I'll tune lower than C standard on this guitar just yet.
I imagine that I'll spend a good deal of time plugging this on anyway, so the string gauge isn't much of an issue. If I want to go back to .012's, I could give the 2nd set of strings to my dad. (He bought the guitar as a birthday present from Sam Ash in NYC. :) I ordered the .011 Martin strings with it, and they gave me a 2nd set free.)
I'll look into the shim issue when I change the strings. Thanks, guys. |

Location: kansas | replacing the saddle with a tusq saddle helped my Celeb sing. That should be pretty simple if you remove the strings, just lift out the saddle/shims and add a tusq saddle like this:

the same goes for the nut(replace with a tusq nut)... both are plastic and replacing sure improves the overall sound quality.

Location: Indiana | 2 or 3? When I first arrived I had 2 O's. Look what this site did to me. And I'm a bass player. Take my advice and RUUUUUNNN, or you are doomed. In all honesty there is a wealth of info here. BTW, my Celeb.(which I really do like) was my first multihole. Looked at me now. Well, I'm sure you'll get the picture eventually.
