Location: Portola Hills,CA | I am looking for a capo that will reach all the strings on my 12 string guitars at the 7th fret. I like Kyser, but even their 12 string model won't quite reach them all. Tried the G7th because I was told it would reach, but is doesn't do the job either. I have seen some members who recomend the Bird of Paradise and others, but I want to make sure the next capo I buy will reach all my strings ath the 7th fret. Any 12 stringers with recommendations? |

Location: NJ | At gigs with my partner, I very often go the route of the "poor man's mandolin" by capoing my 12-string Legend at the 7th (sometimes 9th) fret.
I've been using the Shubb 12-string capo with excellent results!
You can order 'em online at Shubb's website (just make sure that you order the 12-string model). They're around $29 if I remember correctly. |

Janet Davis Music has them for $14.95 (Deluxe is $22.95).

I think the G7 Folks are looking into the possibility of making a longer 12-string model...
PT: is that correct?? |

Location: Portola Hills,CA | How can I argue with a unanimous recomendation. I just orded the 12 String Shubb. Thanks.
PS: G7th is working on a 12 String capo, but it will be quite a while to market.
Thanks to all! |

Location: Canada | I second the Shubb 12 string capo.
I try Dunlop and Kyser and they didn't work well for a 12 strings. Shubb do the job very well. |

Location: Upper Left USA | I like Band Wagons! I have found my Schubb 12 capo to be the most useful of all. I can tolerate the Kyser but the Schubb has better clearance at the "nut".
Always gives me a clean barre. |

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | I'm reclaiming my two "boutique" acoustics from the store where they were selling on consignment. One of them is a 12-string, and I was thinking of getting a capo for it so I could tune it down, then capo it so it plays to standard tuning. It seems the consensus is to go with the Shubb. A timely thread!
Would it be better to tune it down a semi-tone or a whole tone? |
