How the hell can putting a '@' in 'cocksucker' suddenly turn it into a 'nice' word? All this &*^$%#$@#%@ horseshit showing up in here is fuckin' ludicrous.

Ya know, if would be just my luck that Al makes a full recovery, doesn't tell anybody, and then jumps up and smacks me on the head while doing Margaritaville.
At least I hope that's what happens. |

Location: SoCal | Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed Matt's clinic last night. Knowing only three chords and bringing just an old guitar that I had sitting around, I was a bit worried that it would be too advanced for my meager playing.
There was something there for everybody! Matt's handouts were great and his instruction was easy to follow. I've got enough material to keep me going for a long time. And Matt's serious about answering playing questions on line.
I highly recommend attending one of his clinics when you can. I'd drive down to San Diego to attend the clinic this afternoon, but I've got family commitments.
Also met two Kaman Music guys, Joe Montoya and Bob Jespersen. Very very nice guys. They even made nice sounds regarding the beat up old guitar that I brought. It's good to meet more people from Kaman who obviously care about their product and the people that play the product.
Lastly, always good to see fellow OFC'ers there (yes, even Al). |

Location: Sierra Madre, CA | Paul said it best. "THere was something there for everybody!" Matt is excellent at teaching diificult concepts in a way that is easy to understand. His talent and personability are a blessing to Kaman Music and the OFC. Joe Montoya was a wealth of information and is truly a gentleman, and a great representative for Kaman. And on top of that, my wife, who has complaining that my 12 strings are too hard to play and learn chords on, won a beautiful 6 string. We had a very nice and memorable evening. |

Location: SoCal | Just got home from today's "Chop Shop" in San Diego. As previously said, nice to meet enthusiastic Kaman staff - enthusiastic about the product, Matt's work, and the OFC. On Friday, Robert (Bob) Jespersen (Nat'l Call Center Director for Kaman) and Joe Montoya (District Sales Manager for Kaman.) Saturday we had Joe. Each day, Joe specifically recognized the OFC to the group and was very supportive...heck, we all went to dinner afterward and Kaman paid!! Were able to recognize the two birthday boys (Al and Dan) with Happy Birthday and a birthday sundae. Got a feeling we will be working closely with Joe.
Today, was another of Matt's best. Well received. Although Michael had to coach a soccer match in the afternoon, he was able to join us at the Godfather's for excellent Italian cuisine. Rudy Montes and his wonderful granddaughter joined us for Matt's session and dinner.
Both Sound of Music in Temecula and the GuitarTrader in San Diego were appreciative of the OFC support.
Pictures to follow...

Location: Tennessee | Just curious ... how many people showed up, and how many were from OFC? Were there some other folks there who were not Ovation owners and ended up being converts? I guess I want to know if these are an effective way for Ovation to reach the masses.
Regardless, looks like it was a great event. Sure wish I could've been there, but too far to comfortably get there from NoCal. |

Location: SoCal | ? 25 at both...difference was that at the Friday one (see photos) the six OFC (Al, Michael, Paul, Bruce, Dan, and myself) we brought instruments - others either brought instruments or took one off of the wall...great looking store and appears good percentage amount of lessons. As we had a number of guitars evident, Matt had more of a work shop.
On Saturday at GuitarTrader, Matt's setup was on a small stage, chairs in theatre style. Al, Rudy, Rudy's granddaughter, and myself were there (Michael joining us for dinner after serving as soccer coach for 6-8 yr olds.) We brought guitars but left in case as others didn't bring instruments. Appeared that some were in the store for other things and came back for concert and drawings. Matt handed out the same handout as Friday and, although he talked about what he was playing, most of the session was a great performance. Sounds of Music on Friday cost $10; GuitarTrader on Saturday didn't charge. Sounds of Music has been in business for ?? a year so understandable that they would charge to offset the cost of the guitar. Both had drawings for a guitar - Dan's wife won the guitar. What may have influenced the type of person - Friday was 7pm and a charge; Saturday was 2pm and no charge.
Don't know about the others but I'm converting a deep bowl to a nut extender, D tuning, medium strings moved one string up (B to high E) with a 74 guage low E!! Got one of Matt's Italian glass slides that he sells on his web sites and at the chop shops.
Bill had mentioned getting Matt to play the slide on his mando...wasn't hard to get him to do it - amazing. He plays the MM68.
He was selling two of his CD's - "Black and White" and "Big Fun" They are great.
If one is held in your area - gotta go; don't even think about an hour, three hour, whatever drive.
And nice to see the Kaman District Sales Manager (Joe Montoya - both days) and Robert Jespersen (Regional Call Center Director - Friday.)
On Friday, Joe and Matt bought dinner for the OFC'ers and two of the Sounds of Music employees - nice touch and appreciated.
At each session, OFC'ers were thanked for their presence. In fact, GuitarTrader sent out an email to remind of the chop shop - funny, stated that five OFC'ers flew out from the East Coast to support the session - just shows that Al makes an impression. |

Location: San Bernardino, California | A couple of things that I noticed: In the last picture on page 3 there's a young kid behind Dan that was having a hard time with the clinic, so Matt asked Joe Montoya to help him. Also I noticed that Matt removed the nut extender from his guitar before putting it away.
When I was talking to Joe he said that the store had over 1000 students.
Joe Montoya and Robert Jespersen also said that it looks like the Breadwinner is going to be re-issued.
I found out that the import guitars are shipped to and setup at the facility in Ontario. (The one that Tim drives by on the way to work)
Was I the only one to buy a guitar while we were there?? |

Matt uses the guitars from the store. Brings the nut extender (a Kaman product) and loosens the strings. It lays over the nut so easy to put on or take off.
I believe the only instrument he brings is the MM68 mando. Not a book mando but when the neck needed refret, they replaced the neck with one like the book - abalone. |
