I had an opportunity to drop in on the Ft. Worth Guitar Center (had a dentist app. and it's close by) yesterday afternoon. It being a fall Thursday afternoon there was only about three other people in the store at the time.
The acoustic room had the LX marketing stuff in the corner, albeit behind some guitars so you couldn't really see it. Had a LX-Legend prominently displayed.
But they did have at least 4 different LX models, about 4 non-LX USA models and several Celebs.
I played a Taylor, Martin and two LX Elites. What can I say the "Os" rule.
One of the Elites had the New England Burst finish the other had the Honey Burst. Both beautiful to see and play.

One I didn't get down from high on the wall was a Balladeer with a natural finish cedar top and very nice inlay around the sound hole, a whole ring of abalone. I've always liked the Legends better, but this was a v-e-r-y nice looking guitar.

From this looks like the LX's have finally caught up to the demand.

My the biggest GC in Ma. had s771's, a couple of Legend Lx's, a shallow body CL and last years CVT last I looked.

I do think the Elite Lx in New England Burst is a really cool guitar. Very, very warm sounding. Not quite woody but pretty close. To my bad ears it is better sounding than the Legend Lx and it is less dough. Doesn't have the oiled v neck if I remember right and that's a bummer.

$899 is a heckuva good value for the Elite Lx though.

Oh, I have noticed 5 different stores-3 independents and 2 GC's with the standup Lx advertising display.

Ovation is doing a very good job at Ovation dealers in promoting the new design.

I have the 6778 Std. Elite LX in NEB color........my only problem has been a slight discoloration or really a stand out on the top. By no means is it defective or an eye sore.....just one of those things I noticed while polishing the top. Sounds warm and cost.....$899 what a deal! :D
