Question; what do you recommend for humidfying a solid body electric like a Strat, Viper, etc. if the case isn't so equipped? Just ordered a 50th Anniversary Strat. Also, considering a used Viper.
Play On!
Thanks,
John L.

You can take a 35mm film containers, a kitchen sponge, a hole punch and some imagination to supply a source of humidity if needed.
I would think that just oiling the fretboard should be good enough though. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Again, it's more like making sure the room that the case is in is at the right humidity. Then the case issue doesn't matter so much. The sponge in the can sounds like a good idea. You will need some sort of measuring device to know when you have enough. |

Location: Anchorage, Alaska | It is very easy to make yourself a humidification unit like made for cigar humidors. Go to a craft store and get some of that green foam that is used by florists. It is called evafoam. It cost about a buck for a piece big enough to make a dozen. Then get yourself a plasitc travel soap box and drill several hole in the top. Now saturate the foad with distilled water and you're in business. Hold it upside down for a minute to be sure it does not have too much fluid and leak. Now if you want to get real high tech use a 50/50% solution of polypropoline glycole (spell) and distilled water and you will have an auto 70% humidity at 70 degrees. |
