Unfortunately, I won't be able to see it until tomorrow or Saturday, since it's in Lincoln, and I'm in Omaha (NE).

I've waited this long...but I'm gassin' now!!! (Originally wasn't supposed to be here until next week or after, so a nice surprise!)

Oh, yeah, it's a lefty L777-5 (1777/black, but you hardcores knew that!) with Op-40 preamp.

I'll let you know as soon as I get my greasy little hands on it's gloss black top!!

:D

(Paul B.; you know what this means; I need to sell some Barden pickups!)

Thanks.

A set of Teles ... selling in part because they're going for great prices on e-bay, but also because the bridge pickup drops some of the high E string signal because the rails are lined up for a right-handed guitar, and they don't sit under that high E string very well on a lefty guitar, causing a loss in volume.

Otherwise, I think they sound fantastic; I even tried mixing an SD bridge pup with the Barden neck, but they eq so differently that they would require their own tone controls to be balanced.

If interested, just let me know here...

Well, looks like the guitar will be at the Omaha store by noon or one today; hope I can sneak away and check it out!

I finally got to play the guitar this afternoon; looks great, one or two very minor finish flaws (one inside the rosette near the soundhole; looks like something got under the finish - the rosette is gorgeous, however!), and I thought the back of the neck would be gloss (which I prefer) but it's satin; guess I wasn't looking at the photos in the catalog/brochure very closely.

Sound - very good; I was pleasantly surprised here, although I've got to say, one of the SALESMEN (a young guy, I might add) was slammin' pretty hard 'n' loud on a Tele, so I had a hard time hearing it! I even asked him to give it a rest so I could hear the acoustic sound of the O! (I know these guys all pretty well, so he took it okay...)

I'll know more about the plugged in sound when I have time to read the instructions for the Op40 preamp so I know how everything interacts...and run it through my own amp (Acoustasonic Jr.) in our sanctuary. (I'll be glad when I have all the controls memorized; couldn't see a thing on there w/o my reading glasses - had to go out to the car to get 'em!) Tuner worked very well; very nice. And speaking of tuners, they were smooth as silk.

I realized how comfortable 1 3/4" at the nut has become for me; I was a little squeezed in the first couple frets...I may recut a new nut a spread the strings out as far as possible to get a little more room. First I'll see if I can get used to it as is, though. The rest of the guitar and neck was very comfortable to hold and play; no problem with it slipping off my lap.

As soon as I get Bill's $$$ for the Bardens (thanks, Bill!!), I can pick it up.

How ironic that cwk2 is helping finance my first new Ovation!!! ;)
