Location: Denver | Just wondering if anyone has any information on a limited edition Ovation JST CS 257? The guitar is one of 50 made, and has a birdseye maple top, with a what I will call a brown sunburst finish. It has the standard Ovation neck (w/ LE badge}, with a black headstock, and the OP 24 electronics.
What was it made for, etc.
Soundwise, the maple top is kind of thunky sounding, plugged it, it is a little cleaner and brighter sounding than the standard spruce top. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I'm pretty sure it's a standard CS257 Celebrity Deluxe, but they made a limited run in Curly Maple panel and called it a Limited Edition. Pribably is real pretty and a nice plugged in guitar. |

Location: Denver | Yes, it is a standard CS257 with a Birdseye maple top, and LE logo on the 12th fret.
What do they make the Limited editions for? I have seen some at Guitar Center for their anniversary. It just seems like a limited run of 50 is pretty small. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I agree, 50 is a pretty small run. Maybe they SAY 50 but it's really a lot more. Who would know? I guess the idea of Limited Edition is just marketing. Make something in limited quantity, put the words "Limited Edition" on it and you can usually get people to think it's more desirable than a "standard" one and pay more money. Don't misunderstand, I'm not speaking badly about your guitar at ALL. But this happens in all markets for all products. The bottom line is that you got a nice guitar. Because it is a Limited Edition, I guess that means that if you ever lost it a few years down the road or something like that, it would be difficult to find an exact replacement. |

Location: Denver | It's hand numbered on the inside label as 44 of 50.
I liked the price on it $375.
But now I wonder what the difference between a limited edition and a collectors edition is? It seems like they must have made a boat load of the LE's for Guitar Center. |
