Location: Toronto | Hey gang - I snagged a few software contracts in Vegas and will be heading down there mid-month.
I usually don't have much time to spare on these trips - so if anyone knows of any worthwhile music stores to hit while I'm there. With the Canadian dollar so strong, it's like everything is on sale!!

My experience was that if you picked Vegas, you wound up bust anyway. ;) Although, there was a lot of bust watching to do if you weren't gambling (I wasn't). |

Location: NJ | The very first time I ever went to Vegas was for business a bunch of years ago, and it was in early March . . . .
It SNOWED!!
Somebody had said at the hotel that morning (as we watched these huge snowflakes land into the pool) that the last time they'd had snow was like 27 years!! . .
I spent an hour and a half in a rental car driving around with a 7Eleven roadmap, trying to find our office, while all of the "natives" were sliding around all OVER the place (and into each other)!!
I remember sitting at a red light and looked over to see a wino in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts making "snow angels" on the front lawn of a huge hotel casino . . .
By lunchtime, the 3" of snow were gone and it was 80 degrees. |

I've seen Wynn's latest and it's impressive. I was walking through the parking lot of the New Frontier or whatever it is that's across the street and realized that it had gotten awfully dark all of a sudden. I stopped, looked up and that big freaking point on the one end of the tower had eclipsed the sun. Have fun! Oh, and if you go to Paris during the early evening, the guitarist at the Bistro thing (it's in the back of the lobby) plays a Hamer Artist (original with three holes). I also saw a band called 'The Limited' at Harrah's outdoor bar/stage. They were good, taking requests and playing everything...even if they didn't know the song. Last bit of advice...take good shoes (or sandals...I had my old Teva's and my Birk's...the Teva's were better). |

Similar story for me. The first time I went to Albuquerque, was around 1966. I had never been that far away from Chicago in my life, the previous being my trip to Michigan. It was July, we took the train. We traveled through NM and it looked like miles and miles of miles and miles. All desert. I expected it to be over 100 degrees when I reached Albuquerque. We pulled into the city and to my shock it looked like winter. They just had some sort of freak hail storm!
Even funnier was my sister-in-law's first snow. She grew up in the Philippines and it was her first trip outside the country. She was staying in NYC with a bunch of other Filipinas when it started to snow, the large flake kind of snow.
They looked out the window, saw the big flakes and actually thought that someone was on the roof PLUCKING CHICKENS! |

Location: Toronto | Okay so Ed Romans is an amazing place... I played so many different guitars - I would never had a chance to play these in Toronto.
I sat with a double neck Ovation (awkward as hell). A beautiful 12 String Elite (I think I'll go back and get it). The LX they had was lovely - just don't like the color. The T they had was nice sounding - but I got to have the epaulets.
I tried out a RainTree as well - and was not at all impressed with their carbon bodied sound.
So - I figure the 12 String, and a very nice metal bodied Dean Reso that I should have. Don't know about getting it across the border - may have to get one this trip and then the other one next month when I go back to Vegas.
Gotta run and hit the casino - win enough money to buy anything I want!
Tomorrow - CowTown!
