What have you bought (and sold) since you joined the board? I'll bet there will be some very interesting answers.
Me? I've bought an EAB68 Viper Bass, Deacon 12, EA68 Viper, 1537 Elite.
Sold? Uh, nothing. |

Let me clarify now that I'm done laughing at myself.
About Nov/Dec of 03 I decided to go guitar shopping for an Ovation since I had one back in the early 80's. I ordered a Celebrity Deluxe Collector. Not a bad unit.
Found this site, learned a thing or two, sent back the Celeb and ordered an LX from aLeX.
Hung around.
Got a Pacemaker, Got a Custom Legend 12, sold the Pacemaker, retrieved my old Balladeer from my Brother-in-law, got a Breadwinner, Got a Viper and sold it. Actually picked up an Applesauce for a gift tonight!
It's been a good year. |

I have been enjoying the life of retiring on a limited income with creditors, IRS for one, who have no respect for the elderly.
HOWEVER, my daghter has given me a 1966 Fender Mustang with Seymour Duncan pickups that sounds great and an 80's Carvin 60 watt tube X-amp, my son, not to be outdone, has given me a great 100 watt amp with stereo imputs for keyboards, stereos, guitars, mikes etc. and an F type mandolin, and loaned (gave) me a Pignose G40V amp that really sounds great with both my Viper and my Mustang.
So I have been lusting after a 12 string but my economic situation says enjoy the nice things you have and keep buying prescriptions, gas, and groceries and rent.

Location: Central Oregon | Bought a Celebrity 12. Found the OFC. Sold the Celebrity 12. Bought a brand new '03 1858 Elite 12 (that looked very similar to the Celeb) & haven't regreted it one bit. I bought the 1612 basicaly because I couldn't afford a 2003 Collectors. But then Tony made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the 2002. But, I still needed a deep bowl 12. So I bought the Pacemaker. Then I got all my money back from UPS because they broke the case in a few spots & put a few additional light surface cracks in the top. What a deal, a FREE guitar.
Now they come out with that swoopy backed job... |

The interesting thing is I bought these guitars on consectutive days, only a few weeks after obtaining my first, 1984 CA, and joining the club.
Guess I just knew what I wanted and they became avaialable. Life is short. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | What I've bought since joining would be a long thread. What I've sold since joining would also be a long thread. I'm not a dealer, just an interested semi-collector and sometimes player. My collection and taste has definately shifted in the past 3-4 years. I actually own quite a few LESS Ovations than I did before joining the OFC. Probably not many of us can say that. My tastes have shifted. So, a more meaningful question might be what Ovations did I own before joining OFC that I still have and what new ones have I gotten since joining that are still with me and should be for a long time.
Before joining OFC I had a pretty fair collection of Storms. I've sold off a few, but the really special ones remain with me.
I had 4 shiny bowl acoustics before joining. I've now accumulated all 7 of the released shiny bowl models with dupliactes of some of them. Starting to whittle this down to the most special ones only.
My Adamas II Slothead is a one-of-a-kind keeper. Nothing else needs saying about that one.
Stealth Adamas, Sunburst 1537, Book LTD Mandolin and Curly Maple topped Adamas 12-string are also special keepers.
The FD14 Folklore Deluxe is an enigma. The more I think I've found better sounding guitars than this one, I always come back to it and get amazed all over again. Just incredible.
The Book Elite doesn't sound all that great, but for sentimental reasons it's also on the DNS list.
On the non-Ovation side I'm aquired a great '62 Telecaster and two incedible Martin acoustics.
Now, if you want to talk about ukuleles .... |
