I have a 93 Elite 1868-C with the OP 24 preamp, and was wondering if there is a replacement preamp with built in tuner that would fit right in.

Thanks!

Randy

The Op24+C is basically an Op24+ with an onboard tuner. The Optima, which also has a notch filter & 4-band EQ could also be used. The later Op-pro, or Op30/40/50 all of which have tuners are a different size & shape & are not compatible.

I would recommend the Optima because of the notch.

If you're looking for an easy swap, the OP24+c is the answer. The optima is really great, but requires a different output setup because of the XLR/1/4" jacks. Of course you can send the guitar to Ovation and have them put in anything you like. I had them remove the electronics from my early-80's CL12string and install an Optima. Cost me $400, but I loved the guitar and it was worth it to me.

I like the tuners in the Ovations, but I like the little Korg tuners better. They aren't quite as convenient as having one built into the guitar, but you can use them for several guitars and they are a little easier to tune with because of the needle and lights. Plus they are easier to read for these old eyes. $14 for the Korg is a good investment and the OP 24 is a darn good preamp.
