Here's the announcement from danfogelberg.com

Yeah Tim, I saw that. Thanks!
From what I understand, it's already "in the can".
Now I just need to find out when it'll be aired.
SoundStage's webpage isn't too informative/user-friendly . . . |

Thanks for the notice, I will keep him in my prayers.
I didn't know he was doing a solo acoustic tour, I would have LOVED to see that.
I like his older stuff a lot.

Same here; listened to him almost daily all the way through college; what an inspiration!
Prostate cancer is very treatable in most cases, especially for someone his age. Hopefully they caught it early - if so, he should do well. :)
I wish him the best. |

Location: Charlotte NC | The Soundstage episode is on right now here in Charlotte NC. Man, just incredible. I feel so old. My wife of 10 years younger was not as familiar with him so I got up in the closet dug out my old LP's. I have all of them. I was amazed to see him on the cover of "Souveniers" so young (early 20's) and fresh, and then raise my eyes to the TV screen to see a middle aged man a year away from cancer. A middle aged man...like me. The album has a pizza sauce stain on the back. Nearly 30 years ago, a girl named Kim and I were passionately in love. Both in our late teens, we shared a night in with some pizza, some beers, some music, and each other. I still remember accidentally dropping the album cover on top of the pizza and the joyful sound of her laughter. I shipped out with the Navy and we just drifted apart somehow. I'm a tough old bastard now, but when Dan just sang the Soundstage live version of Same Auld Lang Syne, it was all I could do not to start bawlin right there on the couch. Oh I love my wife and wouldn't trade her for anything, but it's amazing how music can trigger long lost memories. Movies can stir emotions, books can stir the intellect, but nothing can stir the soul or lock in and then later unlock a memory like music.
Get well Dan. We still need ya.
Ok Sheesh...Sorry for that lenghty drivvle. Back to the show....
On the lighter side, check out

Location: NJ | Yeah, trying to decipher the scheduling on the webpage is a bit unnerving . . .
Luckily, I get monthly schedules from the local PBS station here mailed to me ("Membership has it's Priviledges":-) . Unfortunately, both the Fogelberg and the Yes shows are on at like 1AM on weeknights (I guess they need the prime-time slots for the documentaries of the mating rituals of the wombat . . ). I'll have to research ordering it on DVD . . .
Randy;
If you haven't seen it, check out the Yes 35th Anniversary DVD "YesSpeak"! LOTSA personal insights, interviews, and "behind the scene" stuff. Narrated by Roger Daltrey.
Whomever the tool was that went through the time, trouble and effort to create a website dedicated to Fogelberg lyrics that he couldn't understand should clean the hummous out of his ears, go back to whatever third-world toilet he's a refugee from, and come back when they have a thorough comprehension of the native language in which the songs were written.
". . . but there's something about the song that disturbs you . . ." |

LOL! Agreed. The "Am I right" site does not neccessarily pick on Dan however, it makes fair game of hundreds of artists. Some of the misheard lyrics are pretty hilarious. One of my favorites is CCR, "There's a bathroom on the right" (There's a bad moon on the rise)

Someone gave me a book years ago with tons of popularly misinterpreted lyrics. Most were really pathetically bad and not worth printing.

Location: Fayetteville, NC | Thanks for posting that link Cliff. I had just bumped over there yesterday for update news. Lets all keep Dan in our Payers for his continued recovery. If he never records another song,or never appears live on another stage, the gift of music he has left to us will be here forever. |

Saw him in concert many years ago, just by himself with guitars and piano, as he said "as the songs were written, before they add all those violins and stuff." He was great.
Martin got a great ad off his website, too. |

I saw him at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville back in the 80's. He was on a solo tour then. I remember being disappointed that he didn't have a backup band with him, just a few guitars and a piano. Good show nonetheless. |

Well, I hate to see anyone get that sick, but if he's really cancelling last year's tour, he may have bumped his head as well. I have to admit, I get Dan mixed up with the guy who used to beat up Darryl Hannah (Jackson Browne?). I'll have to pick up an album. Hopefully he beats this thing and gets back out soon.
edit: My bad, I didn't realize this thread was just brought back after a year's hiatus! I hope Dan is doing better than last year! |

Looks like he may not be taking up where he left off musically, though. I would bet he wants some time to smell the roses.....

| I'm doing better and better. You need to get your address to Bongo Boy - there is a little something in the mail for you, coming via Virginia. (But nowhere near as nice as what's coming in the mail to me from Virginia - see other thread.). |
