I have lots of my CD's transferred to my computer but I've notice a great difference in the playback volume between songs. Does anyone know of a player that will mellow out the differences?

Look for a 'normalize' or 'volume leveling' function on your current player.

I use 'Musicmatch Jukebox', which has volume leveling (you do have to do a convertion process, but it's easy to do, it just takes a while. Also you can do your whole collection at once).

Hi all.

This is my first post, but I've hung around for a few days rather than throwing in a "Hi" thread. I won't waste everyone's time just yet, as I'm sure the content of my guitar family will come out in time...

Just thought I'd throw in a program that can do this sort of thing - http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

I've only had to use it on the odd song here and there, but I believe it can handle many tracks at a time.

Hope it proves useful to someone, and that everyone's Christmas went in an Elite manner.

JB

Whether Mac or PC iTunes will do the job. On the Mac go to Preferences (Properties on the PC? ) select audio and check the box titled "Sound Check".

This adjusts playback volume so all songs are pretty much the same level.

Tryed to email you twice, but they both bounced, so I'll answer the question here:

Sorry, I don't download songs. I just use it to archive my CDs and LPs on the computer. Kind of a combination of a database and a player.

When you uninstall MMJB it doesn't remove the mp3s that you have on your computer. So after the new install all you have to do is use the 'ADD TO LIBRARY' function to get MMJB to recognize them. Although if you have the display set up for a 'hierarchical sort' (not in all versions) you'll have to redo that.
