One other point - Nils, thanks for mentioning Victor Borge. I've just been inspired to dig out a DVD of him that I have, which has brightened my morning!
Here's to a peaceful and laughter-filled 2005.

In both this post and the one on basses nobody mentioned Greg Lake or Keith Emerson. I'm not a big fan of theirs either buit I thought they'd at least get a mention. |

Greg Lake? I don't know. He was a guitar player converted out of necessity to bass. Don't think he could stand on his own as a bassist. On his solo LP's he plays mostly guitar and hired someone else to track the bass parts. |

Location: Tennessee | McCartney was also a guitarist who took over the bass duties out of necessity ... but then some people just have "it" when it comes down to playing just about everything. McCartney is one of those, as is Todd Rundgren and Lenny Kravitz. |

I believe that I mentioned Greg Lake in the bass thread . . . while he might not be considered a "virtuoso", he does do rather well (his 8-string Alembic work on "Pirates" comes to mind . . )
