I have an Applause that plays great. I've owned legends, an Adamas, Celebritys and liked them all (okay, loved the Adamas but kids... sigh)

anyway, I would like to upgrade the electronics in the Applause if it's possible. What's the best way to go? Look for Ovation parts on Ebay? Put a Fishman or Baggs in? Leave the original p/up in and use a box?

Open to all alternatives as it really is a sweet playing guitar.

Thanks,

David

Yep, I suppose so.

It's a model AE-38 with an Applause Guitars two slider tone and gain.

Recently I've seen some higher end Ovation electronics go through Ebay so that got me to thinking.

Thanks for the help. :D

I don't have a response, but want to add a me-too to this discussion. I have a Celebrity CK057 with the previous generation electronics and would like to upgrade to the current one with the built in tuner.

Any ideas?

This is what I have:

OK, yeah, I know it won't fit without a bowl replacment due to the different size. HOWEVER, can I get an Optima in there? Is there another preamp that will fit that has a tuner?

BTW, what preamp do I have? I can find no labels. Ovation doesn't list old electronics on their web.

OK, I think I have a DJ-4 preamp. Is there a replacement with a tuner?

Mother ship states that I can replace it with a OP24+c or OP24+e that have tuners. Anyone have leads on these? No luck on e-bay.

guess I'll have to buy some parts on fleabay and see what I can do. Or bite the bullet and buy a fixer upper Legend or Balladeer

If you guys're primarily doing this just for the convenience of having a tuner, you're probably better off keeping what you have and investing in either a Boss TU2 stompbox or the Sabine tuner that'll adhere (safely) to the top of the guitar (I believe this is the model that Master Templeman always seems to be carrying in his shirt pocket . . ).
You'd probably be saving yourself some money/headaches, and you'll be coming away with a substantially more accurate tuner.

Just a thought. . . .
